BFTG Coventry

Typical ”3 points despite a poor performance” performance.

Mbengue MotM.

Now 6 days to another Friday night game.

Yeah basically that. Cov better than us, we scored the goal and battled hard. 3 points closer to champ football again next year. All good.

Coventry had a lot of what I'd like to us as a team, high work rate, closing down and tackling, organised but they lacked that cutting edge. I think we're probably a better side individually but as a team they just closed us down and largely stopped us playing.

I was expecting them to knick it but for all their work rate they lack that cutting edge in attack.

I think our subs helped kill the game, having that depth in the squad (except for centre halves) was a big difference.

Just to add it was fooking freezing and getting the game was a shambles. They need to do something about the Greyhound stadium car park, it causes all roads around to back up whilst they take their sweet time collecting cash on entry. There were still people coming in 15 mins after the game started.

Just seen J Low's ratings for the game. I'm beginning to wonder how much of the games he actually watches and whether on occasions he just uses a random number generator for scores and selects random cliché to justify them. Andy Carroll gets just 4 because he "Had a very limited impact on the game. Struggled to hold the ball up and bring others into play".

The wife came along to this and she also knows nothing about football and thought Carroll was our best player

Difficult game to rate really. Thought Lumley was as good as I’ve seen him and prob motm without doing anything spectacular. The subs all contributed well. Mbengue was prob the pick of the defence just about

Baba, Fornah and Hendrick all had poor games I thought. But would mainly be 6s with the odd 7

I thought that was a battling win, felt like an away performance where we had to soak up a lot of pressure and take any chances that we have. The atmosphere was pretty flat which reflected the lack of quality in the game.

Joe Lumley had a great game. McIntyre was good having not played any football for weeks.

Coventry are a good side, they should feel hard done by not to have got a point from that. Definitely won't be near the bottom with that display. As for us, a point a game will get us 56 points which would be enough to keep us up.

Hendrick is a real conundrum. I thought he had a good first half fairly deep keeping things ticking over simply. Disappeared when we were under the cosh.

He makes a few too many mistakes though, and he's not quite good enough in the defensive or attacking third.

Although that's the whole side... lots of promise with too many little errors here and there.

Didn’t think Carroll really achieved anything to be honest. Meite the more dangerous, albeit a bit too clumsy. And the game was perfectly set for a Long sub.

McIntyre did well to take over from Holmes. Mbengue was his usual raw self plus the bonus of a goal.

I'd say pretty much everyone with a 6, Lumley a 7.

sshhh (a certain Cambridge based ‘expert’ poster didn’t want him anywhere near our team a few months back.).

Joe has been an asset to this club

Hard to judge a keepers performance based on radio commentary so I am not surprised at the clueless numpty.

Rotherham aside he's managed to cut out the calamities. He's pretty average, but doing fine.

It's almost like I rate a player by how they perform.

Southwood doing pretty well at Cheltenham btw.
