nailseabiscuitman Very funny thread on Sunderland's fans website having a pop at each other about leaving early on Wednesday. Let's hope the theme continues after Saturday's game

Some things never change with the Makem twats, I see.

Nope! He apparently signed a new agreement with WBA yesterday (until 2027) so we can be fairly sure he ain’t going to be moving to Leeds (or anyone) any time soon. Personally hoping WBA fail, so last night was a good result, for the possibility of much financial anguish up there next season.

Echo that, would hate to see another side dodge the financial repercussions via the play-offs just like Villa did. We are still 10pts clear so if we get dragged into the relegation scrap we still have to be pretty awful, but our away form is absolutely shocking and our home form is starting to falter.

Over the last 10 games, our next 3 opponents are 21st, 24th and 23rd in that order.

We're 11th.

Even over 6 games, where we've been a bit shit. The only 2 clubs worse than us are Blackpool and Cardiff.

Massive chance here to turn our form around and move towards to safety.

5 points (minimum) in our next 3 games will make the picture look a lot clearer for us and will probably mean we are going to be safe, anymore than that and I think it's pretty much confirmed, without being mathematical.

3/4 points in our next 3 will still leave us with a fair bit of work to do, whereas anything less than 3 points would start being a cause for concern. Given our record against the sides at the bottom, especially at home, I'm confident we can get a couple of wins.

If it were just 3 points I would prefer us to have got a point from each of the games, thereby meaning that all those 3 clubs below us would have made no progress.

Warnock comes out of retirement to join Huddersfield until the end of the season. Who could possibly have forseen such a shocking turn of events?

That sounded logical when I posted it but it might not matter if we won just the one game as we do at least achieve 3 points towards the safety net.
Anyway let's hope for better than that.

Though unlikely to win, given the miserable away form, but Reading face Huddersfield on the last day of the season. Might that game actually be the very last time Colin manages anyone? Seems an appropriate way for him to finally go out.

Yep each of Rotherham Blackpool and Cardiff are must not lose rather than must wins

Though ince that doesn’t mean timewaste from the 5th minute and throw on Dann to protect a 0-0

Very much this - win has to be the target but do not lose - given our home form and Cardiff's woeful form, we need to be looking for 7pts really but draws in each game will not be the end of the world but given the following 3 are Boro, Sheffield Utd and Millwall - you wouldn't want to head in to those on 9 games without a win.

Nah, you're right. Three draws and it's +3 to us +3 across our rivals.

One win and two defeats and its +3 to us +6 across our rivals.

The problem with 3 draws is we have no control over how Rotherham, Blackpool and Cardiff do in their other 2 games.

So whilst in a game to game comparison it looks OK - if the others just W1 D1 they have closed the gap over two games (by 2 points) and if any of them manage 2 wins then they'll be 4 points better off in comparison. So 3 points with 3 draws not the end of the world but is the least preferable "positive" solution.

Next 3 games are essentially bald men fighting over a comb - hopefully we've managed to get a visit into the hair replacement clinic.

Same applies if we win one lose two though... we've still got no control over their other two games.

Yes but we have stopped 1 team getting 1 additional point from us - which if the season goes totally south could end up being key.
