Hound Laurents been on fire since he was linked back here

Stoke finding some form though, all seems to have clicked

Pleased for him. Better than any of our current midfield.

Yet again Wigan late paying wages due to "liquidity issues"

Not the first time this season either...I thought this was a deductible points issue in itself, especially for repeat offenders, particularly given they are late due to lack of available cash

They have a suspended 3pt penalty from last time, which should now be applied. Can't see how it can't be if we get ours.

Wigan Athletic accept suspended points deduction for late payment of wages

Wigan Athletic have accepted a suspended three-point deduction after reaching an ‘Agreed Decision’ with the EFL in relation to three late payments of wages last year.

The threat of a points deduction will remain valid for 12 months in the event of a further breach.

Owners Phoenix 2021 Ltd must also deposit an amount equal to 125 per cent of the forecast monthly wage bill into a designated club account for calling upon in the event of any future delay.

Latics notified the EFL, following Football League regulations, that they were late with the payment of wages in June, July and October 2022.

As a result, the EFL charged the club with misconduct for failing to comply with Regulation 64.7.

Regulation 86 allows the EFL and a club to enter an 'Agreed Decision', where it is appropriate in the circumstances to conclude a matter effectively and equitably without referring the matter to a disciplinary commission.

Seem to be a lot of rumours that Huddersfield will go into administration this week.

If they go into administration by Thursday, the -12 will come off this season's total. Any later, will start next year on -12.

Teams seem to be making it even easier to stay up apparently

Not sure that's right. I thought points deductions up to end of March were this season 100% then if after then applied this season only if it relegates the side.

I'm sure Wigan were docked 12 in April the other year when going into admin, and they went down as a result.

Is this def right? They must still be getting parachute payments

Rumours is the key word though started in Huddersfield fan circles and Alan Nixon seems to think there is substance in it.

We'll have to see.

Wigan were mid table so the points came off at the end of season as it would relegate them. There is a deadline that if you go into admin after it, you get the points off next season. It stops a club taking a tactical penalty when they know they are already down. Leeds did that, so rules were changed as a result.

Had a feeling about this, new they were struggling for cash again. Their owner put several businesses into administration not so long ago and they were selling players in the summer without much investment. They've been down at the bottom of the division for most seasons, last season aside, so I can't say it's come as a huge shock to me.

Makes us look almost sensible considering we only had 1 season of prem money.
