Sutekh Unsurprisingly Cardiff are putting together a catalogue of what they see as the shambles that took place at Rotherham on Saturday to plead their case to restart the game at 0-1. Primary complaint being the perceived approach of the ground staff on the day in taking a leaf out of the “Reading v Bury” how (not) to clear water off a pitch book.

Expectation is, though, that the FL will not order the restart but just tell both sides to replay the entire match on a date TBC in April.

There’s footage of the groundstaff sweeping water back onto the pitch

Hound Yeah talk of then having to sell Ndiaye etc if they stay down

They are carrying 20m players in the likes of Berge, McBurnie and that forward whose name escapes me. No way is it sustainable

Imagine them and wba are well and truly knackered if they stay down. Hope they do actually, as it might even start driving some reforms and highlight what an absolute mess the champ is

Yeah agree, never like seeing clubs in any sort of trouble but always thought that parachute payments are just another gamble within themselves, basically challenging teams to have 3 years to get promoted before having to completely reset and probably end up in mid-table or lower in the Championship for a number of years, examples such as ourselves, Birmingham, QPR, Swansea and Stoke.

The way relegation and promotions are looking, the Championship could be a lot less northern biased next season. The Champiuonship could lose
Burnley
Sheff Utd
Boro
Huddersfield
Blackpool
Wigan

and be replaced by
West Ham
Bournemouth
Southampton
Sheff Weds
Plymouth
Ipswich

all based on current positions, notwithstanding the vagaries of the paly-offs. Plus assuming we avoid the drop too.

Could be a good season next year for away games

Some excellent away days there - another reason that its imperative we stay up this season! (and sold out away ends when they come to us).

Wigan Athletic has, with immediate effect, been deducted three points from the 2022/23 Championship table after the Club failed to pay player salaries again in March 2023.

The Club had previously been charged and sanctioned for failing to adhere to the terms of the Standard Contracts that were in force between the Club and its Players in the months of June 2022, July 2022 and October 2022.

This latest infringement by the Club to meet its obligations means the terms of theAgreed Decision the Club entered into with the EFL in January 2023 has been breached and the application of the suspended sporting sanction has been automatically triggered.

In a further breach of the Agreed Decision, the Club’s owner has failed to deposit an amount equal to 125% of its forecast monthly wage bill in a designated Club account. This had been a key term of the Agreed Decision to help prevent the Club breaching EFL Regulations again, should there be future delays in the processing of overseas payments.

Separately, new charges have now been issued to the Club following this latest instance of non-payment of player wages and for not complying with the Agreed Decision. The Club’s owner will also be charged with misconduct, with the matter to be referred to an Independent Disciplinary Commission.

And so it begins. Easiest one first I guess.

But interesting* how quickly a suspended penalty has been applied to them but our suspended penalty has taken 3 weeks and counting.

There's was a no brainer given late payment of the wages was due to lack of funds rather than say a technical issue

Not much to be complicated about there. Were funds deposited in account? Were players payed by x date?

No and no. There you go.

I think our compliance is inevitably far more complex as it will be many strands of player wages, bonuses, income, and other costs, all intertwining and jumbled up in accountancy flim flam.

The EFL might have just decided to do this during the international break to minimise disruption to the teams involved. And are working their way through the 'backlog', one club at a time.

Expect to hear about us tomorrow . . . . .

Which would be fine if someone hadn't leaked about our probable deduction 3 weeks ago.
