NathStPaul Really looking forward to the League 1 rebuild. Even the most optimistic supporter has to accept its nailed on now so just embrace it.

Honestly considering a season ticket for next season

I think it would be fun in either good way or masochistic way. We will win the league and build a great young side which is obviously a lot of fun or drop off a cliff and be so bad its laughable, not fun in the typical sense but one of those situations where you'll have to laugh or you'll cry.

Hope season tickets come down by a good amount should we go down. Club will need all the supporters it can get.

Reckon this is a solid 50/50 if we’re relegated

Given that almost all of our debt is to the owner, would there be any point going into administration?

We've failed to pay the players on at least two occasions in recent years, the chairman has owned two clubs before both of which were dissolved on his watch having been relegated - so yes, maybe we won't go into administration, maybe he'll just write us off.

You should be able to brilliant odds on that, let's see you stake some money on it.

You can use your winnings to start a crowdfund to buy the club when it happens.

I'll look into it and get back to you on the odds.

To be honest, we were probably the main factor in those clubs going under. They were sacrificed so Dai could chase his Premier League dream by chucking a fortune at us.

Snowflake Royal Pardew counts, he was in and out of the club at the time.

I've seen us in League One thanks, maybe not in the 70s/80s/early 90s, but in the late 90s and 00s. It was better than now.

Sadly, after todays result I now think we will be in League 1 next season. I only hope that it goes the way you think it will with a rebuild and return to the second tier is obtainable, not the way I fear of bobbing around the bottom two divisions or our club becomes extinct. It would not surprise me to see the club go the way of two of his other clubs have gone.

I've never said how it will go, just that there's a good chance it will be fine.

It seriously isn't worth that risk. How would rebuilding in league one be easier exactly? When we have most of our top earners out of contract anyway and we'll see sub 10k crowds on a regular basis.

We'll lose so much TV revenue as well. Relegation is never a good thing

And will he lose interest now we're at least 2 years from the premier league being a league one club having spunked £100m+ on us.

I'm getting bored of explaining it, but one more go.

Our first team is gutted. We need to stay within a wage cap still. Good Championship players are a lot more expensive than good League One players. We can't expect many Academy players to step up in the Championship each season and play a big part, so while they'll be useful, they can't fill enough gaps. We'll struggle to bring in good Championship players and we need a lot. Our facilities are good, but many others can say the same in the Championship. Championship players will look at our recent record and good ones won't be very interested in fighting relegation, which is likely if we stay up. We're a medium and shit fish in the Championship pool.

In League One, the quality is lower. We can expect to use more of our Academy players for more games successfully there. What remains of our existing Championship players, whilst of mediocre Championship quality will mostly be good to very good League One quality. So instantly, we need to make fewer, cheaper, signings to fill our squad and make it competitive. Second, our facilities will be second to none in League One. We'll be a bigger fish in a smaller pool and much more attractive to good League One players on the up.

There's no reason to think our attendances will plummet. We've sustained more than 10k in L1 before. If we start winning and playing people will come. There's already numerous people on here who have said they'd return to having a Season Ticket if we're relegated having not had one recently.

We'll lose some TV revenue. But Wigan and Rotherham, withsmaller attendances can manage it, so so can we. Our wage budget is already low for the Championship and with Joao, Meite and Moore out of contract There's a huge slice coming off of that too.

Moore's wage alone could fund 6 decent League One players' salaries.

Finally, we've proved for years we cannot turn things around in the Championship. It's got progressively worse.

Have you thought that maybe you're having to explain it constantly because it's a bad idea?

No it's definitely because people have decided it will be a disaster and aren’t open to listening.

All the reasons I've outlined are pretty much self evident.

The academy will definitely be key in league one, I agree on that. We should have more capable of stepping up to the first team.

How many of the current crop are really ready though? Feels like we have the poorest set of youngsters in ages. I'd expect Abrefa, Ehibationianham (spelling), Tetek (if he can stay fit) and Camara to play 10-15 games minimum. We don't really have any midfielders frustratingly who are ready and that's where we need the most surgery on the squad.

Hopefully I'm wrong though! If we had the youngsters that we had when Clarke was manager like Stacey, Dickie, Hyam, Cooper and Samuels I'd feel very confident.

Am I right in thinking we’ve won two games by more than 1 goal in the last two years? Blackburn and Peterborough

Not quite. Blackburn, Huddersfield, Bristol City and Blackpool this year, but yes, only the Peterborough game last year.

Two types of people. The emotional and the rational.

The emotional will say "we want to be in the Premier League, success is the only important thing"
The rational will look at everything and try and see what is what, see those clubs who have gone down and then come back stronger, see those who have gone down and never come back. See how the owner is, see how the academy is.

There will ALWAYS be those emotional people who think only about their emotions. So, it needs to be explained to them and they still won't listen. Reading were division three and really bad when I first started supporting them. When we went up to what is now the Championship we were minnows, but managed to make ourselves a Championship team, and still went down and came back up again.

It happens, that's football. Yes, teams like Bradford went down and inexplicably have never managed to make it back up even with huge crowds, and that could happen to us, but most likely next season we'll be play offs at worst. If we can build a team out of academy players, it won't cost us a fortune. It's doable in league one.

I do find the chat about being at ‘rock bottom’ slightly odd tbh

We’ll be in div1. We’ll still have plenty of good games against the likes of Derby, Ipswich or whoever stays down. We get to play in international week

I’d like to stay up. But can 100% see being a bigger fish in a small pond could be fun. It could be crap also but that’s sport

One thing I think is nailed on is if we stay up, we’ll be in a relegation struggle again next year. And the year after. We’ll be getting another new team of cast offs

Of course we need to get a new more progressive manager. We need to keep the new structure in place. We need to use the academy

Do these things and I can see going down as more attractive than staying up in purely footballing terms

Obvs it’s more than shit if staff end up losing jobs etc because of it though

And only scored 4 goals once in a league game in 3 years (4-2 at Blackburn). Can’t remember when Reading last scored more than 3 in a league at home.

Ipswich finished 11th twice and 9th in league one before they're better season this time around. That could well happen to us.
