LUX
Franchise FC Luxembourg branch is up and running

There is a second RFC supporter in Lux. She is from Tilehurst like me ftmfw. Norcot primary school ( RIP) , unbelievable.

I am president, she is treasurer of the RFC Lux Branch.

We may swap roles this spring, to spruce things up/ attract further members.

It’s good to hear people moving so far away and still keeping the faith. Also, hearing about fans who originated from Tilehurst. My Mrs went to Norcot primary but for some bizarre reason only known to my mum I got sent to Wilson Primary and then moved up to Meadway.

My old neighbour was from Malta and has now moved back. I converted him into a Reading fan and I occasionally send his boy the latest Reading shirt as he is also a big fan.

Winston Biscuit Do we have any significant fanbases outside of Britain? If so then where in the world are they? have the club ever put any efforts into creating fan bases abroad?

just interested to know. thanks for your time.

Warm Regards,
Winston T Biscuit esq.

I'm the China fan base... Never met another Reading fan here.

Then again most who come don't really like football that much.

tmesis In truth, there's little point even trying to raise the club's profile abroad. Overseas, if you aren't one of there elite, nobody is interested

One thing the club could do is partner up with a club abroad somewhere. Quite a few clubs have done this, though many do it through a long shared history (Sunderland-Athletic Bilbao a good example)

Cartagena in Spain
Quite likely to get promoted to La Liga thus season
(and just down the road from where my mate has just moved to, so I guess he’s become the RFC Supporters Spain Branch)

Having Internationals from a particular nation helps, especially if they don't have lots playing at a high level.

They are my Spanish team as I holiday there most years!

I wouldn't say quite likely to get promoted. With 7 games left they are outside the play offs with 6th likely to be the highest they can realistically finish. They play 6th place Albacete in 2 weeks time which may well effectively decide whether they make the play offs or not

We’re going to the game with Sporting Goujons next Saturday
What’s with the 15:15 kick off times, though

Will be interested to hear what the experience is like (get into the European Football thread on General Football) as I have never been. Everytime I am there is summer so no Football.

I assume the kick off times are tv related. Spanish football is a mess for that.

LUX I remember we went on a pre-season tour to South Korea to increase our fan base there. We did have Son playing for us at the time which helped.

You mean Seol presumably

That's a real shame, a 14 year old HMS would have been brilliant - and we'd have been able to gain a few quid from selling him
SKH wasn't quite as good

Not a tour as such, we were invited to take part in the Peace Cup, a multi-national club tournament.

In a group with River Plate (lost 1-0), Olympique Lyon (won 1-0) and Shimizu S Pulse from Japan (won 1-0). Missed out on the final on goal diff to Lyon who went on to beat Bolton in the final. Just looked it up and the Bolton squad included the likes of El Hadji Diouf and Anelka and Lyon had Benzema starting up front.

SKH was huge in Korea and, as a result, we were very popular out there. Just going to and from the games we would get mobbed by camera wielding Koreans wanting pictures with Reading fans. Not so sure that the rendition of he shoots he scores went down so well though.
