Pepe the Horseman Just had a look. Steve Cotterill is also favourite for the MK Dons job and Wilder is fav for the Hearts job. Think that tells you everything you need to know about the next manager market.

It's almost always dictated by where the money is going because unless clubs have already set something up, even they don't know who they'll appoint so how can the bookies...

I tend to ignore manager odds unless or until we see one name go odds on - even Evens is a vast amount of guesswork and/or the result of a relatively small number of bets.

Some journo on Twitter has taken it a step further and said we’re in talks with wilder and he is keen. We’ll see soon I suppose

Would be delighted of course

I think back to his great work with Northampton and Sheffield United in Leagues 1 and 2. If you give the guy a long term project he will deliver. He will also be able to attract players due to his track record of success. Would be a huge boost for the supporters and club to get him.

Even Boro he got the push but when he left they flew up the league. Which tells me he had put a good team together. I would ignore any manager’s record at Watford. So if there is any truth I would be delighted. He always talks sense never sugar coats a poor performance. He is strong on discipline and knows this league.
And I think Reading would be perfect to rebuild his career without the worry of the sack after two loses.

Hope this is true. He would be perfect, and he loves a long-term project which is exactly what we should be offering now.

All those 33/1 odds just look like a copy-and-paste of whoever happens to be out of work at the moment. No way would Potter, for example, be a possibility.

Also, who the hell would gamble on Kolo Toure now?

Re: Wilder.

Believe it when I see it, but I can't see there being a better option that would be realistic for us.

That would be quite the coup.

Ian is a very capable manager. Who are you to doubt him?

Add me to the Chris Wilder fan club.
Ideal for us as an experienced team builder who has generally done well at the various clubs including Oxford and having had 6 years there he may still have some connection to the area. .

You're right about that. His past merits speak for themselves. And he may well be able to prove himself in a new place. However, this is not a fact, but a very good hope..

New manager odds, especially for a club of our size, can't be read too much into. But Wilder has just gone straight in as bookies favourite at 1/3

Once in a while bookies do actually know something. Let's hope this is once in a while.

Anyone going down to the manager's parking space for a vigil?

Always get more interesting once a candidate is odds on.

Be interesting* to know how often a candidate has gone odds on at 1/3 or higher and not been appointed.

Reckon it's purely down to a load of Reading fans requesting him to be added to the market.
