Royals and Racers It is being reported that several clubs mainly in the North and the Midlands are appealing their league moves or promotions.

Just cant see how they are going to solve this other than doing an accumulated total of the mileage and move around those who are bottom / top etc.

AFC Aldermaston and Cove are the latest 2 to appeal the decision to put them in the Wessex league.

There are some really odd choices there though especially for a part time team that low down

And the conference should be north, Midlands and south clearly

Sod being a Darlington player going to Brackley on a Tuesday and then find out the games cancelled halfway down

So why can't the CCLPS or CCLPN take them, they were CCLD1 clubs after all. Surely having a non regionalised tier 10 division feeding 2 regionalised tier 9 divisions should stop this sort of thing and clubs already in that league should be given priority over clubs that aren't?

Amazing achievement for Ascot, gutted I couldn't go. Bit of a Reading connection with Ron Grant's grandkids playing for Ascot. Jamie Ashdown is a coach their too, and their assistant manager Dan Masters used to be in the youth team with Jamie.

…and Martin Allen is the Uncle of the two playing Grant brothers.

(Great for Harry G, he played every game for Thatcham Town in their Vase winning campaign….bar the actual final)

Fantastic day out at Wembley cheering on Ascot United. Lovely atmosphere, great win for the team and fantastic value for money. Two tight, competitive matches for a really low price.

We took just over 5000 I believe, Newport Pagnell were just under 6000 as of last night.

Halifax Town more or less took their full allocation but the Gateshead end had a lot of empty seats. Halifax supporters were great btw.

Maybe a bit too tight for the neutral, with just a goal in each of the two games.

Watching on TV, the Ascot game was the better match. I don't know why it couldn't have been played on the Saturday though.

Odd to think a year ago Ascot were getting takan apart 0-4 by Reading's U23s in the Berks & Bucks final. This one was rather bigger.

Yeah the Trophy game wasn't the greatest, the atmosphere inside the ground probably made it feel better than it was.

Gateshead were really annoying me, trying to play tippy tappy football and slowing everything down from minute one. I understand playing that way if you have the players to do it but they really didn't, trying to be too clever for their own good.

And the Halifax goal, what a shambles of defending!

Yep, defender had absolutely zero awareness. I see it fairly often when watching high level non-league. I understand sides playing the "right way" but I have very rarely seen that approach work over a long period of time. Vast majority of good non-league sides I have seen this season are relatively direct, some very direct.

Did Ascot's Chris Ellis have a chance to do any of his long throws?

He played for Windsor for a number of years (good guy) and my God that throw is a weapon.

I don't recall him doing one. I have seen his throw though, quite something.

Well I hope Kevin Stott is happy. Windsor FC have lost the lease to stag meadow and former player and manager Mark Cooper has formed a new club involving the youth set up to start a new club at Stag Meadow.

Interesting times ahead! However it's never good when a club splits like this. Some people may have split loyalties.

I wonder what level the new club enters at? And what happens to the now homeless Windsor FC?!

I think it’s safe to say that Windsor FC, with nowhere to play, will no longer be a thing.

Stott was holding out for his American investors but the Crown held the whip hand and did not fancy their plan, even though it was extraordinarily ambitious.

I’m sure there’ll be much whooping with glee in various quarters but I think one should spare a thought for Kevin. He did what he thought was the right thing 12+ years ago, and in its way it was noble and has given people football to watch in Windsor’s name, but through a litany of poor decisions, terrible management, a lofty arrogance and possibly a bit of bad luck along the way, he has (on the face of it) chucked away £200k+ of his own money, lost face, lost respect and will hopefully now get to witness what a properly run community club, with proper management and partners working together can achieve.

Last Weekend I was walking the dog in the Great Park having parked at Stag Meadow, and he was out there mowing the grass on the training pitch. I’m sure that scratches the surface of the many many hours he has put in behind the scenes, without ever seeking or getting credit for it. It’s a damn shame, but if you can’t manage people, and in fact alienate almost every single person who has provided help and support along the way, then I guess this is the outcome.

You cannot afford to piss off volunteers in lower end non league football and he did that time after time after time.

Personally I have always found him to be a decent, polite gent, but he made his own bed.

I hope he goes quietly but I fear he will not, and will try to find a way to scupper Cooper & Co’s plans.

Please god, don't let the new club be called AFC Windsor!
