Pleased for West Ham. They are a decent side and Moyes is a decent manager. They stuck with him when other clubs would have sacked him.

Yeah, do like Moyes and glad he’s got that trophy win

I would question how far he can take them. Did excellently for 18 months but was so reliant on Antonio’s work leading the line and they haven’t found anyone to replicate that role. Antonio looks a shadow of his former self and I can see West Ham struggling again next season

That being said, I’m sure West Ham fans don’t care at this moment in time and so they shouldn’t. An excellent achievement (considering Spurs couldn’t even get out the group stages of this competition last season  )

Standard of finals have been poor. Become a case of players not wanting to be the “one” to cost their team. Reference Reading 0-0 Huddersfield for that

Problem with too much money riding on the game, puts the added onus onto the players

West ham fans piling in to the street in friar street last night. Probably more West Ham fans in Reading than Reading fans

Get out. Although there are far too many Spurs and Bin Dipper fans on here. Need some sort of inhumane cull.

Yeah pleased for Moyes. Had a long and pretty decent career in management, wouldn't blame him a bit for stepping away now and letting a younger man take over West Ham. Think that is what they need to push on now, some fresh ideas and a long term project. Perfect for Graham Potter imo.

Please for West Ham. Just someone different winning something is nice. And its also very much about the awaydays in Europe, which just look great fun tbh.

Still, lol @ 'european champions' by getting past Silkeborg, FCSB, Anderlecht, Larnaca, Gent, AZ Alkmaar & Fiorentina

I think it is easy to discredit the competition if you aren't involved in it, we have all done it at some point. I would sell you my nan if it meant Reading winning a European trophy though.

fully agreed (would happily sell your nan etc).

The awaydays around Europe are what its mainly about tbh. Getting a shiny trophy at the end is minimal compared to the beery lolz across Europe with your mates.

Yeah, I'd give my right arm to see Reading in Europe. Was gutted when we missed out in 2007, no matter the competition.

In fact the Conference League might be more preferable - Thursday night in a European town that no one has heard of, sign me up!

Pleased for Moyes - think he gets a lot of unwarranted flack. Looks like he fucking loved it last night as well.

It's easy to sneer at the Europa Conference League when we live in a country who's top flight is awash with money. I dont see it as a competition for the likes of English clubs, its more for the sides that would otherwise get rolled over by the monied clubs.

It's like sneering at League 1 or League 2. Just because the clubs aren't as big or as good, doesn't mean winning the thing isnt a big deal to the clubs involved.

alkmaar are no joke
they have one of the top youth systems in the world now, think they smashed the youth champions league and are basically now all homegrown youngster in their 1st team

I think calling it the conference doesn't help, at least for fans in this country.

I like that the trophy is a hobbyist replica of the UEFA cup

One of my biggest pet hates in football at the moment is morons criticising teams and players for celebrating success. "It's only the Papa John's Trophy, why are they jumping around and celebrating?". Get fcuked, success is success.

Think this is a great point, it is a very silly name.

Also agreed. Really winds me up when people feel the need to tell people how to celebrate.
