From Despair To Where? It's easy to sneer at the Europa Conference League when we live in a country who's top flight is awash with money. I dont see it as a competition for the likes of English clubs, its more for the sides that would otherwise get rolled over by the monied clubs.

It's like sneering at League 1 or League 2. Just because the clubs aren't as big or as good, doesn't mean winning the thing isnt a big deal to the clubs involved.

Winning is always important. At least for the morale of the team. For less wealthy clubs, it is even more important.

i must re-watch that again to see how bad it was. I just remember it for being utterly dire. Pretty sure Huddersfield had a massive chance in first 5 minutes, if they had scored that, hopefully a different spectacle.

Every now and then I am reminded that we were 3-1 up in that penalty shoot-out.

Stam's game plan came across as "get to penalties" from the off and by half time Huddersfield seemed to be of the same mind. Utterly awful experience to have to sit through. Neither team deserved to win on the day.

Yep, this really, felt like Stam couldn't believe his luck we were playing a team with a worse scoring record and goal difference than us. Rather than the front-foot attitude he employed so successfully against Fulham in the semis. It was just utterly bizarre, frustrating as oxf*rd, and must have been horrific to watch as a neutral.

The really funny thing about that game was that they had some "Find yourself in the crowd" type thing of the EFL website. I found myself and I could swear I was asleep.

Best part of the game, I watched it at home, was the camera cutting to my wife's cousin during the shoot-out. We were 3-1 up at the time, but his nervous face foretold what was to come.

Football is for all says the UEFA hashtag before the game involving a club owned by Abu Dhabi.

They said Haaland was going to be the striker to bring City the Champions League, but it actually turned out to be Lukaku.

So should Foden after that brilliant turn and run.

Tense stuff but not a great final, but very pleased for City.

Credit to Inter but City were way off it tonight, Silva, Grealish and Haaland particularly poor.

I think the tanks are empty - I’m sure Grealish will ensure they refuel tonight.

Nail on the head. City were shot, but still got over the line. Fantastic turn from Foden, shame about the finish. Delighted for Citeh though.

Sympathies with Brobot now that Man Utd are no longer the only English club to do the big treble.

Not a great game but liked the honesty of Rodri saying that he played "shit" (was there the usual apology from the broadcaster?) and Grealish for saying that he was rubbish.
Also liked it that Pep effectively played Ake ahead of Walker (who he has said publicly before lacks defensive awareness) and that City found a way to win in a poor game against a very committed Inter.

Others might have seen it already but my son sent me a text about 3 Ex-Reading players winning big medals this season (although obviously it does little to lift the depressing mood of our season):-
Ake -Champs League etc.
Martinez-World Cup
Antonio-European Conference League winner

There are also some lesser ones around the world of football with Barrow etc. but these 3 are pretty good.

Nice to see the MadStad in the Champs League final - the half time advert for Barclays regarding womens football shows several shots of the ground.
