Really? We haven't appointed or signed anyone shit yet. That's quite a lot of deceleration.

WestYorksRoyal Not much sign of Bowen turning round the oil tanker yet.

The transfer window doesn`t open until Wednesday, what exactly are you expecting in the middle of June?

A manager. Some sort of communication after relegation is confirmed. Communication when we sell a centre back. Retaining key backroom staff for more than 6 months.

If he's managed to offload Sarr who had 3 years left on his contract I'm quite happy Bowen's working pretty hard.

Manager - let's get it right yeah. They don't need to be in post much before training resumes.
Communication - we've had one, nothing more meaningful to be said
Sales - really don't care about announcing not great players are going, so what, not like we have much to thank him for, and the twatterati are attacking every tweet that isn't about a manager
Retaining staff - relegations mean staff turnover, he hasn't even gone yet

Someone has to help try and keep a sense of perspective rather than having a meltdown every time we go a couple of weeks with nothing of note happening.

His job title is deliberately "head of football operations" not sporting director, DoF, etc to make it clear how much decision making authority he actually has

His job is day to day operations, he doesn't make the big decisions

Direct your dissatisfaction to Dai Yongge who clearly has the final say on hiring/firing managers, budgets, where to invest and who to sign (taking input from Bowen's team but also clearly Kia and other agents are still in the picture)

I like the guy and I think he knows his stuff, but his hands are tied

You can disagree, but I think there are some minimum expectations for a club. 1) Off the back of relegation or unsuccessful seasons, set out your commitment and plan. We've had one tweet. We are an outlier among relegated clubs.

2) Confirm when you have sold players. If Puscas and Sarr have been sold, which they appear to have been, there is no excuse for being silent. Again, what precedent is there for a club saying nothing here?

The manager point is more nuanced, as appointment process may not be simple. But where a club gets into a long process and end up with 2nd or 3rd choice it rarely ends well. If we don't appoint Wilder, the fans will be underwhelmed, skeptical and the manager will know they were not 1st choice. It's not setting us up well.

And then Dublin. He's going into a more senior role at a club in a higher division. Fair play. But we've sold a vision to a staff member and he's decided he can do better in less than 6 months; perhaps his experience here didn't meet his expectations.

All I'm saying is that there was plenty of positivity and faith in Bowen when the season ended. Fans can still be convinced, but there needs to be hard evidence to convince us. Radio silence doesn't earn you the benefit of the doubt.

Perhaps in a few weeks we'll have Wilder in control, a Cat 1 academy again and some smart signings. But the words we heard in May have not been backed up by action yet in my view.

Jamie Hodder, don't think he posts here these days, says Bowen (unclear if Son or Snr) is on "compassionate leave"...

Son is media side, if it's him.

You may be right. I do wonder if this attempted "reset" ends with Bowen's resignation out of frustration that he can't implement his vision.

Bowen's gunna walk

Couldn't blame him. He's not being allowed to do his job. He was overruled when wanting Ince sacked in January. Dai interfers too much and gets everything wrong!!

Obviously it's pure speculation, but it's easy to believe that Bowen had the Wilder deal tied up and it was Dai's meddling that messed it up. Of course, he has been burnt by Dai's erratic behaviour once before. I'm surprised he came back.

Regarding the silence from senior figures at #readingfc recently. There are valid reasons, which i won't go into due to staff's personal sensitivities. However I am told things will restore to normal 'soon'. No exact timescale.

Before you can turn a supertanker around you first need to bring it to a complete halt. In the absence of tugs to assist. The distance is measured in miles. Doesn't help when the crew opt for the lifeboats.
