Rumour - Tom McIntyre

Reading face a fight to keep defender Tom McIntyre. McIntyre is on the radar of two Championship clubs while there is interest from a club in Scotland. But no bid has been tabled as of yet

Can't see us not selling and too be honest he is better than League 1 so wouldn't begrudge him a move away.

Was expecting interest for him and Holmes to be honest. He's better than League One level anyway, not sure what type of fee we'd pull in for him to be honest. I can't imagine it would be a large fee, but I could be pleasantly surprised.

No he isn`t, he was a part of a defence that shipped 155 goals in 2 seasons.

I am sure that was all his fault.

Whilst true a lot of defensive problems of the past 2 years can be attributed to the lack of anything constituing a central midfield. Not to say the defence are blameless of course.

At this rate, any player who doesn't leave or isn't linked with a move is going to need significant counselling.

Has been mentioned on here before but his partner is pregnant which you imagine will have a big factor in where he may want to go.

Integral part of one of the worst defences probably in our history two seasons running.

League One will be his level and do him some good,

Got to agree that not seen a lot to say he is more than low end champ/L1 level. Not that young any more either

Would take a decent fee for him, but be disappointed if it’s another low release clause job

Sell and reinvest the money. Anything close to a million would be good money to try and reinvest in the squad (or pay off a tax bill).

I would honestly be surprised if this happens. I'm sure that Championship clubs are doing their due diligence looking at what they might be able to pick up cheap from us given our situation. But going for a CB who didn't exactly stand out in relegated side that has problems with conceding goals doesn't seem like a smart move. Basically, I think he's worth more to us than anyone else.

Past the point of caring now. Wish him all the best.

Is he? I think league one is about his level to be honest. If we can mug a club off for £1m for him then we should take it!

Tom Holmes is better. I'd be sadder if he left us to be honest.

Has potential to be a Championship player, but has struggled in a struggling team. I expect he and Holmes would be more likely to stay if they saw a good chance of returning to the Championship quickly, but given that's not the case I expect them to move on. They only have a short career.

When did he sign his contract? Is he another one with a very low value clause written in?

I did mention a few weeks ago that I heard of Millwall being interested.

A bit slow for what is needed of a modern defender and not spatially aware enough IMHO for a midfield role but he seems like a good team man who gives his best every week so I wish him well wherever he ends up.

Would make sense. Millwall like to target players from clubs who have been relegated.
