People can we please not do the oh how the oxf*rd is this effecting his mental health schtick, he must be weak. It's old, tired and says more about you than anyone who says that this actually impacting them - and if people are actually reaching out to offer support then that should be applauded.

From Despair To Where? Sigh. Let's explain it again.

Selles is pending a work permit. No point announcing until the permit is issued.

We are currently under investigation for additional breaches. The embargo won't be lifted until this is sorted and a new budget is agreed. Therefore no announcements on signings or any of that shit.

These are all legal proceedings which the club either can't or shouldn't make statements about.

Our kit reveals are always late.

So basically it boils down to the club could make a statement but people will just moan that it says nothing and is not what they want to hear. At this stage, there is probably very little they can say.

Yes it's frustrating but shit happens. There is enough going on (1st year professional contracts, preseason in Spain etc) to suggest things are moving and will be resolved shortly.

But Selles was listed as Reading manager in a random EFL quiz so surely that means it's 100% done and they just haven't bothered telling us :!: :x

Even if it was communicated, you'd get lambasted for being stupid/living in dreamland. Whereas it is obviously totally logical, rational and represents a real-world view.

100% agree with this - yes they will be frustrated as well, but they should be smart enough to put this type of message out to fans. Although I guess that won't get enough clicks/engagements.

Realistically, Twitter is very small proportion of our fans and I think on the whole, a lot of people will be fine with what the club are currently putting out there/not worrying about a lack of message.

I know it certainly doesn't bother me, got a bunch of other crap going on that means I'm not thinking about the club every minute of every day like some on Twitter seem to be.

There was some old dude on there yesterday saying how this is really affecting his mental health and club should be ashamed for putting hi through this, then a load of people started replying saying are you ok im here to talk if you need :| The guy looks like hes in his 50's or 60's ffs. Yeah things are dire atm but seriously oxf*rd off with your mental health shit

Get him to send me an SAE and I'll send him back a sense of perspective...

It was this melt

Poppycock, any fully grown adult who is suffering from anxiety and mental health problems caused by the clubs lack of communication need to give their head a wobble and grow up :|

What I do find a bit odd is how little anyone seems to know outside the club. Normally you at least get some rumours or inside knowledge of what’s going on being posted out, but other than Walcott and Knibbs really seems very very little

But they seem to have stopped the leaks for quite a while quite effectively

Yeah agree. It's a livelihood for some people, he could be a fan that thrives off travelling to home and away games, he could know someone who works at the club that might effect their lives or whatever else. It does seem quite a bit ott, but who knows what their situation is.

Jesus Christ, welcome to the modern day where people will freely admit when they're struggling with mental rather than keep it bottled up and go on a downward spiral. It may seem trivial to you but that's not the case for everyone, no one person is the same.

Twitter is the best place to discuss your own mental health problems?

Well it certainly isn't Hobnob judging by the above... there were no comments like that on Twitter

(Could have been worse - Brogue could have said "Man Up!" which is wrong these days on so many levels)

I'd also add to my previous post that there are 2 players that we have reportedly agreed terms with; Theo Walcott, a player who has played and played well at a much higher level under our pending new manager, and Harvey Knibbs, a player with significant League 1 experience. This tells me that scouting and recruitment is being led by our management and scouting team and not some shady super agent with undue influence over the owner.

Agreed. Things effect people in different ways. Sometimes even the most minor or seemingly irrelevant of things can just bring someone right down so just think before saying anything about someone who says they're affected by such things.

Personally, I think we're probably all a bit mental for just supporting this current mess of a club in the first place but then it seemed a good idea at the time.

it's not being edgy, it's not pandering to a fully grown adult's attention-seeking, and saying he is suffering from anxiety because a football club is not sending out communications :| if you want to 'u ok hun' him that's up to you. Why? He’s put it out into the public domain to be commented on

If the conversation is in a dialect of Chinese. Then no one will be any the wiser. Dai would not appear to communicate with the club's employees in any event during his tenure of ownership. Keeps himself to himself. I'm sure events since last October have taken many employees at RG2 by surprise., bemusement and even anger.

Dai will famously be remembered for his running race across the pitch post match with his mates......... says it all really.

Yes. But he should be being supported to a solution - switching off from it and boosting his sense of perspective, not having the idea the club is at fault for his mental health being validated.

Where we are on this spectrum I can't say.

I think there's growing signs that the more you talk about anxiety and normalise it, the lower the threshold there can become for experiencing it and the more severe, widespread and debilitating it can get.

We do, of course, need to encourage people to speak out and seek support, but we also need to arm them with the expectation that life involves dealing with stress, adversity and anxiety and you need to develop coping mechanisms to deal with it, not demand you never have to experience it.

In my view, if the current state of affairs of the club's communication is causing him mental health concerns, that is a him problem, not a club problem.

But definitely good to see people offering support.

EDIT: having read the rest of the thread, clearly the tweet and exhange has been misrepresented and Brogue is a dinosaur pcunt who I'd like to disassociate my view from.
