That's assuming that both Holmes or McIntyre stay, which I'm personally not expecting. I'd imagine one, if not both, left this summer. It's a big season for Dorsett and I think Bowen rates him highly seen as it was him who gave him his debut back in 2020.

I think Dorsett is probably ready for this level, I just hope that, if he does excel in the early part of the season, that we can offer him improved terms during the season so that we don't end up losing him for nothing (or little depending on compensation) next summer.

Don't want to consistently be in a situation where we are losing talented academy prospects for nothing, especially as they'd go down as straight-line profit on our balance sheet as well. £8m for Olise but nothing for Loader, Richards and Rinomhota in the Dai era is really poor.

Yeah may not be the case but that is a rule as part of bringing a squad upto the minimum number required - could also just be that either the club or the player decided to give it 12 months and see if he breaks through - may well be an option in there if he does but if he doesn't we probably shake hands and move on.

This we were under an agreed decision, which whilst we embargoed from signing players for fees we had freedom in terms of contract length. We are now under an EFL embargo which only allows us to enter into contracts with free agents for a maximum of one year, only if we don't have enough players of professional standing. We don't currently - we have 20 or 21 and need 23.

Once the embargo is lifted, which it will be once the tax issue is resolved then we can sign player for fees and/or offer free agents multi-year deals.

Pretty good news a goon like you isn't manager then if you're basing your view on one pre-season friendly.

The past two Friendly games have been pretty grim to watch, however, they are just pre season games and its all about getting fitness up to scratch.
We are currently without a number of first team players (Carroll, Ejaria, Yiadom) plus hopefully a return of Mbengue and Hoilett (Fingers crossed) and hopefully the Walcott story will come to fruition, add to this i suspect a number of new signings in the very near future and we should have a team capable of holding our own in League 1.
We have to remember we're currently playing with next to no experienced midfielders so sure, we're going to struggle!! i have full faith in Bowen and Co to put this right before the big kick off against Peterbrough..

Pretty good news a goon like you isn't manager then if you're basing your view on one pre-season friendly.

On the flip side, this is supposed to be the opportunity for players to prove themselves to be a part of the squad. Maybe not so much our senior players, but younger players from the U23's as well as some who were very much on the fringes like Bouzanis. Not exactly encouraging to see 2 very tame performances against lower league opposition from all involved. Having said that, the result is immaterial.

If we can move the ball up the pitch and get crosses in to attack, Carroll will be devastating in L1. Not so much if we treat him as a head on a stick to hoof it up to.

Mbengue, Hoilett, CBC and Jahmari Clarke are all still listed on the club website (the latter two as U21s) - whereas all released players are no longer listed. I don't know whether that suggests they are all staying, but I would've thought they'd've been removed by now if they weren't.
