2023-24 L1 Table Prediction Competition.

by Snowflake Royal » 06 Jul 2023 17:38

I'll run the league table prediction comp again this year.

Similar format to last year. I'm going to adjust the points scoring a bit to give a greater chance of positive totals and fewer negative scores for position. Leaving out Play Off winners.

Full points rules will be posted when I've worked them out, but will keep changes minor.

Post up your predicted L1 tables and I'll start collating. Changes permitted up to noon on the day of the opening fixture, Saturday 5 August.

I like that you're sticking to the tactic, even though it proved useless last time out. :D

Ok, so points scoring.
    +6 points for exact place.
+3 points for within 2 places of exact spot
+1 point for more than 2 but within 4 places of exact spot
+0 points for 5 places from exact spot
-1 point per place for each beyond 5 places
+6 points for successfully predicting Champions
+4 points for successfully predicting autos
+2 points for successfully predicting Play Offs
+4 points for successfully predicting relegation
+6 points for successfully predicting bottom

If you predict Reading finish 10th, and they do: 6 points
If they finish 8/9/11/12: 3 points
6/7/13/14: 1 point
5/15: 0 points
4/16: -1, 3/17: -2, etc

I've boosted points a bit, and lowered the threshold for negatives so in general things are higher scoring than last season and we might get some positive scores.

Elm Park Kid 22 Milton Keynes

Might want to change that, unless Milton Keynes have replaced Northampton in League One.

Points now added.

Basically, the closer you are to true position for each team the more you score. But if you're wayout, you'll lose points. Bonus points for getting champions, autos, POs, relegation and bottom spot on.

I'll do checkins on how everyone is doing at 12, 23, 33 and 46 games played.

I don't really know League 1 that well anymore, so I'll just predict everyone finishing in alphabetical order. If this does happen we better hope the likes of Wrexham, Walsall and Sutton Utd get promoted out of League 2 to keep us up the following year if it happens again

Exeter
