CountryRoyal Anyone that thought relegation would be a good thing is looking pretty silly right now.

League two far more likely than promotion. That’s if we even have a club left.

I'm looking at you Ian. Be careful what you wish for

Webster750 At what point does a big Tesco become more appealing to Dai than the football club?

He could turn us into a shopping mall with a bowling alley I guess

The people that directly work in the club must be fed up. You feel as if you're finally getting somewhere just to be knocked back time and time again. I said it a fair few months ago, regardless of who we bring in, the players we have etc we will not see any significant changes until we have a new set of owners.

We will still have the briefest of successes somewhere along the line, but it will be overshadowed by abject failures and it will just continue in this whirlwind until the day the Dai's leave by whatever means they take, either sell or walk.

Twitter ( or ‘X’ lolz) is ruining rumours of a takeover starting to progress and the hmrc debt being paid over the weekend

No doubt any optimism from this will have fallen to shit by Saturday again

Hobnob and twitter are going to go mental after the game regardless, aren’t they.

Win and it'll be like we've all been given heroin.

Lose or draw and it'll be like our mothers have been shot.

To be fair, if we're miles off the pace on Saturday 99% of it can be blamed on Dai, so let the fire and fury rain down. But wouldn't want to criticise Selles and the players.

The idiots who want to blame everyone but Dai will get on the players's backs.

It's all Gourlay. No Kia. No it's the FL rules we signed up to. No it's definitely the Chinese government's fault.

To be fair, the takeover "rumour" was tweeted by Anthony Smith who covered the club for the Chronic, so probably does still have decent contacts there who would rather use someone like him to get word out than someone still covering the club.

Also fits in with the post on here from Goalposts that things were in motion and he was the first to make it clear we had missed the PAYE deadline again. So, things seem to fit into place but not getting hopes up quite yet.

The main problem with new investment is Dai has to do something to get it, and anyone willing to work with him is probably someone not worth having.

Assume the wages have all been paid today in the absence of any news to the contrary

Well if the talk of a takeover is true then Dai stops being an issue - bar paying him rent, at least initially.

If it is just investment, then it all depends on the terms of it - if say Group X pay him Y million for 40% and their investment then goes to the club accounts then again, whilst having reservations, I would be less concerned. Plus someone willing to buy a minority now, will most likely be willing to buy the whole shebang down the line.

Don’t think wba are doing so well at that

Nor are Wolves; albeit they've got PL money to help them. West Brom have parachute payments, which will assist them.

WBA don't have parachute payments, got their last PP last season.

PP are made on the last day of the year I believe (ie 30 June), so potentially still have cashflow available for early part of the season

The problem between the EFL and Dai could be explained in the attached STAR analysis of the original EFL decision (see bottom of page 2 re: Relegation).

https://star-reading.org/wp-content/upl ... ssment.pdf

Basically, if the club cannot stay within EFL budget constraints then Dai can fund the losses for the season, but in one lump sum at the start of the season.

Also, much of Dai's money is not in China but in Cayman and BVI where all his interests seem to be registered (including RFC's parent company). Chinese businesses are often funded through a complex web of offshore businesses, so that wouldn't be uncommon.

He prefers Anything Else though, he even posted Reading FC on the "What have you just bought?" thread at the time which was a bit of a shock.

He's alright, although he does prefer The Rock over Con Air and doesn't have a preference for red of blue bounty bars which is concerning. We try and ignore all the destroying our football club shenanigans on Anything Else and accept him as a just another idiot poster.
