Given the amount of time it takes Reading to take throw-ins and set pieces, it looks like the hour long sit-in protesters might still be sitting in this time tomorrow.

Still, nice to see them to upset the expected narrative.

I'm sure James McClean will do well in League 2 on £10k a week.

Some someome on twitter say that Swindons postponed game today was the first time an opening game of the season in the football league has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch

Meite being as casual as you can possibly be when it comes to trying to block Leeds equalising goal

Community Shield a decent game.

Arsenal’s signings did well, especially Timber. Haevertz not so much, couple of decent chances missed but we already know that he’s not much of a finisher. He did link quite well though.

So they’ve made some good acquisitions but surely they needed a top striker most of all to compete with City.

Cole Palmer MOTM? Nobody really cares much but it is ridiculous when MOTM is given when there’s still 10 mins of football to be played.

I don't dislike Wrexham, just dislike the "fairytale" bullshit that surrounds them. Nothing fairytale about having a budget three times the size of the rest of the league.

Having said that, I was born near Chester so have a perfectly good reason for disliking them.

QPR's next 4 games are Cardiff, Ipswich, Southampton, Middlesbrough

If I could find someone offering odds on it, I would be putting money on Ainsworth being the first Champ manager to go

Not sure you'd get a lot of bang for your buck. There were already rumblings of him going after the game on Saturday.

If ever there was a manager destined to do well at just one club it's Ainsworth - the relationship with Wycombe worked for all parties but close to impossible to replicate that environment elsewhere.

The very, very good, and the very, very bad, last night.

First, Josh Ginnelly's stupendous goal for Swansea City that stands as good a chance as any of winning this season's Puskas award.

https://twitter.com/eurofootcom/status/ ... 4394080256

And so to Accrington Stanley's Korede Adedoyin, who slipped taking a penalty in their shoot-out and made so little contact with the ball that the keeper dives the wrong way and still has time to get up and dive the other way for the save.

https://twitter.com/itvfootball/status/ ... 2229778432

Fwiw I don't think Adedoyin's effort would have counted anyway, as he touched it twice.

Cracking stat this. November 1999 - 18 year old Joe Murphy is in goal for Tranmere as they take on Bradford City in the League Cup. August 2023, Tranmere play Bradford City in the cup for the first time since, and their keeper is none other than 41 year old Joe Murphy, now back at the club having amassed around ten others and 600 career appearances in the intervening years.

League Cup continues to provide some real 'highlights'. About the most definite red card you'll ever see here, for Colchester's Samson Tovide.
