Spurs were terrific. Bissouma is a hell of a player, what did Conte do to him?

Indeed, he has looked world class these 1st 2 games. Love watching players like him, silky, composed, skilful and strong. Can’t ask for much more.

From Despair To Where?
Franchise FC
From Despair To Where? Wrexham shipping goals for fun at home again. That's 11 in 2 1/2 games.

But also scoring them for fun as well

True, but having to score 4 goals to get anything out of a game is unsustainable.

Assumed they'd lost when I saw the HT score. Must've been some game! I wonder how many people left early.

Got to be a concern for ETH how poor his side are away at the big teams. Something like 0-1-9 now against the top 10. Badly lacking a presence up top although Spurs were terrific, looked hungry and athletic. It has been a recurring theme of starting well under new management before imploding which is the key challenge for them this season

City their usual dull selves. Been a tough watch as a Reading fan these last few years or so but I’d take it all over again any and every day of the week over supporting that. Soulless club

Brighton look terrific. Easily see them challenging for a top four place

Amazes me how well they adapt to the players they lose. Smart recruitment, showing you can succeed without spending millions and millions on players

Despite the oil billions flowing into the club, City actually heavily invest in their local community both financially and emotionally. The very antithesis of a soulless club, surely?

In fact, one of the owner's stated aims was to maintain their standing as a community club and their community outreach programmes put most of the league to shame.

And they also invest in clubs that are in the city group and are fantastic at developing other players

Some of the players from Yokohama F Marinos are absolutely fantastic

I watch them every weekend , anderson lopes, elber and yan matheus are fantastic footballers

At the whole post? You don’t think United getting 1 point out of a possible 30 at the big teams is a cause for concern?

Personally think City are the absolute epitome of where football isn’t the same anymore (and not for the better). Take all the spontaneity (and subsequently enjoyment) out of the game. All about controlling the game rather than forcing the initiative. Sure, it works incredibly well for them and they won’t care one iota about people’s thoughts on them, but from a neutral perspective, their games are some of the least entertaining around. You think otherwise and that’s the nature of the game and the purpose of these forums as we all see different things watching a game of football (yes, there may be some who still rate Dier  )

Soulless? Yes, I think so. Certainly from an on field perspective anyway. As reference to FDTW’s post, commendable with respect to that but 1-0 up in the 94th minute against a fellow Champions League team and you’d think they were cruising to a 4-0 win in a FA Cup 3rd round tie. Sure, success brings around fairweather fans but I was amazed at just how quiet it was. To an extent, I think their outright dominance has led to it. Winning has become a formality for them as opposed to actually meaning something. It’s what happens when you let the divide between teams become so large.

I question if football is for you if you can't enjoy the way City plays.

The only issue I have with them is that now everyone tries to control possession, without the quality players to do it, so it ends up being the Stam style negative passing round the back.

I like watching teams attack, not teams suffocating the other team of possession and methodically passing around and around and around until a gap may eventually open up. Some people prefer the technical and tactical side of the game which is fine of course, but it’s not for me personally.

Like I said, it’s where the $$$ talks though. Teams won’t come on to City and just sit back and the majority of games end up becoming damage limitation. They’re not contests, they’re one sided affairs. City have been involved in some excellent games but only when the other team comes onto them, an occurrence which happens less and less each season - too often end up in poor spectacles like last night where the opponents just try to “stay in the game”

It’s the idea that you have preferred watching the non-football Reading have produced over the last few years over what City have produced that I struggle to get my head around.

Yes, I think we need an explanation! I don't like City but then that's because they spend too much and win everything pretty much every season so it just gets very very tedious but in no way can you say watching the utter cr@p that Pauno and Ince had Reading playing is remotely comparable to City let alone something anyone, who doesn't have an eye disease of some kind, would say is preferable to watch.

Every season we all just assume they're gonna suddenly improve. Reckon it could finally be their time.

No not really, actually think Liverpool are the most entertaining as they can be devastating when they get it right but more often than not they underperform so, at least, you don't get the same tedium factor.
