Ta - meant to mention something along those lines ...... but as the old saying goes ....."me tea was ready" !

...am tempted .... depends if I can escape work early enough and intact in spirit ....to feel up to it.....

Sadly VIrginia Water appear to have been out-powered by Cribbs 1-5 at Stag Meadow this PM, to exit the Cup.

Other fairly 'local-ish' Cup replays bring Jersey Bulls to Knaphill on Tuesday evening and the following night Corinthian-Casuals trek round the M25 to Uxbridge's Honeycroft.
CORRECTION: seems this last tie is actually being played at Slough's Arbour Park ... still on Wed evening.

....and league games of note in our neighbourhood this midweek - mostly at STEP05/06
(Tue)
CCL
Sandhurst v Tadley - hosts buoyed by their first point and the visitors probably feeling a little shell-shocked after their Cup mauling by Portchester.
CORRECTION ( bit late soz - league site missed that Tadley were involved in a Hants Cup tie on Tue night L1-2 down at Christchurch )
Milton v Wok & Emm
Sheerwater v Guildford
Berks Co v Woodley at Ascot
Windsor v Bagshot at Beaconsfield
WESSEX
Andover New St v Fareham
Ash v Andover
Frimley Gn v Aldermaston

(Wed)
CCL
Burnham v Wallingford & C

...and Windsor & E host Slough Heating Laurencians @ Stag Meadow in the TVL-P the same night - KO showing 18:00 but that might change .... games do shift at short notice in this League where lights are available - last Monday's game at Scours was put back during the PM to 19:00 so best check.....

...EDIT changed on the FullTime site to 19:45 now ....

It’ll be very interesting to see how many of the 1022 come back on Wednesday!

Not after their Twitter admin called out Reading and started blocking loads of fans. No.

Surprised they made the target seemed very ambitious to me but congratulations all round. I dont think anyone is expecting that to hold up but if they average 200 or so that's still more than the other club were getting. I wonder what crowds they are getting as they get 6 put past them in Beaconsfield

Are they paying wages? I am not sure how a club with free gates at this level keeps going especially with flood lights and rent to pay etc. It's a level so low that I have no idea how it works whatsoever

Apparently old club had 32 for their 1st home gate.

I would hope a decent number of the 1,022 come back tomorrow night - 300+ would be terrific.

Clearly need to establish a new core support, as there were only about 50 left last season (excluding me as I rarely went). A lot of it will be down to the entertainment on offer of course. Having suffered through aimless panic stricken hoofball for much of the last few years, I have to say, despite not getting the ball in the back of the net on Saturday, it was a pleasure to watch a fit young team putting in plenty of effort, not whinging and playing the game as it should be played - on the ground with plenty of invention, neat passing and nice moves.

Just need a goalscorer to get on the end of the chances created, and I understand one is being signed this week. (Oh for a Michael Chennells! He was actually at the game on Saturday, still looks as fit as ever and even at 37 could probably bag 40+ goals at this level. Fantasy for sure, but still....) :D

Windsor & Eton 6 Slough Heating 0. Crowd of 400+ at the Stag. Great atmosphere, very entertaining and W&E well worth the big win. Front three - including a new no. 9 - were just mustard and it could have been more. They will rip up this league if they keep that up.

It was indeed a very pleasing performance. Took a little while to settle in, briefly they forgot their style, but once one of the players yelled “keep it on the ground” after about 15 mins, everything clicked.

Lots of pace, nice flowing football, hard working - it might be a lower level but it’s nice to enjoy football at Stag Meadow again after 3 or 4 years of pretty uninspiring stuff.

... good to hear - I had a bit of a mixed bag this midweek ....
- started on Mon at Scours La: saw 'City' progress to the next round of the FA Cup (H vs Shaftesbury on the 2nd Sept) with a very comfortable 4-0 romp past Easington Sports from the suburbs of Banbury.
- Tue saw me down the A322 at Knaphill : where the 'Knappers' grappled none too artfully with the Jersey Bulls - hosts finally getting through to a home tie vs Hanwell, with the only goal - an ET winner around the 100' mark. Game was an absolute chance-free slugfest and around 85' every thought they'd been spared further torment when the lights failed!
-a general power cut at the ground. Since a re-replay was probably unwanted/inadvisable - due to the visitors being 'overseas' - they persisted and got the lights back after a fairly short-time. I'd given up by then and had wended my way back home.
- and finally last night (Wed) was a little ways up the M4 at the 1878 Stadium (f.k.a. The Gore) and watched Burnham thrash the hapless Wallingford and Crowmarsh, to top the league early on. Latters' chairman - who I have a passing acquaintance through work, warned me before they weren't very good ..... and he was right there!

Plenty of other action about midweek elsewhere: (brief-ish highlights)
CCL-PN
-astonishing 6-4 win for Chalfont St P. @ Wembley.
- Holyport were thumped 5-1 at Broadfields
-Milton and Wok 'n Emm played out a 1-1 @ The Heights
CCL-PS
- Cobham beaten 0-3 by Farnham who are 4 wins from 4 and go top on GD from Redhill, T&M and Guidlford.
- Fleet Town bt Abbey Rgrs 4-0
- Sheerwater went down by the odd goal in seven to Guildford City.
CCL-1
- Berks Co walloped Woodley 4-1 at Ascot, the 'other' Windsor grabbed a welcome 3 pts- 2-1 H v Bagshot
- Amersham continuing their rather stellar start to life in the CCL, put seven past London Samurai at Spratley's Meadow - ex-Northwood striker, Jake Tabor with a hat-trick and Richard Paquette on target again.
- Holmer G. NOT finding the move south from the S.Mids as much to their liking though, humbled 1-5 at home by Oxhey.

...and possibly result of the night in WESSEX One on Tue :D - where big bad Marcus Richardson's charges AFC Aldermaston got off the mark with a 2-1 WIN :? at Frimley Gn - ex-Thatcham - and plenty of others locally - Simeon Weekes on the scoresheet.

Lots more to come....... as it's a B/H w/e - will put up this Fri/Saturday's fixtures shortly and Monday's later on .....

-it is the FA Vase 1st Qualifying Round this w/e with both Reading City (v Clanfield '85) and Woodley United (v AFC Aldermaston - playing @ 15:00 on Sunday) making way for the 'great unwashed' 8) for this Festival weekend .... and de-camping away from Rivermoor/Scours La. temporarily - for their home ties to be played at Mill Lane: Henley Town.

Are the new W&E eligible for any cup competitions or do we have to wait until they get promoted before there's chance of playing Windsor?

Results from the first part of the B/H w/e

Saturday 26th August

FA Vase 1st Qualifying Round

103 North-West London 5-1 London Samurai Rovers
104 Holmer Green 0-9 {NINE} Milton Keynes Irish
105 Wembley 5-1 Long Crendon
106 Daventry Town 1-8 {EIGHT} Burnham
107 Leverstock Green 3-2 Ampthill Town
110 Rising Ballers Kensington 3-1 Spelthorne Sports
112 Bedfont 0-1 Cogenhoe United
113 Langley 2-1 Chalfont St. Peter
115 Easington Sports 2-5 Edgware & Kingsbury
117 Long Buckby 3-7 {SEVEN} F.C. Deportivo Galicia
118 Brook House 2-0 Wallingford & Crowmarsh
120 Risborough Rangers 1-7 {SEVEN} Flackwell Heath
121 Sun Woodley United 3-1 A.F.C. Aldermaston - att 106
- trundled over to Mill Lane (Henley Town FC) for this local 'derby' - ground was being 'borrowed' by both Scours Lane occupants due to the Festival.
- Was a tight affair with United just shading it, by virtue of their slightly sharper forward line and only slightly tighter back-line.
- Both defences were under pressure - throughout a decent tussle - not least United, when the 'big man' himself (A.F.C. player-manager Marcus Richardson) came on early 2nd half to try and force a way back from 2-0 down. The 'Atom Men' did grab one back almost on FT, possibly due to the mayhem, he is still able to create within the opposition box, even as he approaches his 46th Birthday, later this week. :)
It looked as if there was every likelihood of a leveler and pens - but Woodley stood firm and settled it even later in injury time.
- noticed a bit of redecoration/sprucing up in and around the Triangle Ground and would be nice to think that one day, before too long, they'll manage to re-join the lower levels of the pyramid proper - always a pleasant ground to visit.
(No food today though - and parking can often be a challenge if you don't get there early)
- but despite that minor gripe, full credit must go to the Henley and Woodley staff/officials/volunteers who made it happen. 8)

123 Shirehampton 1-1 Wantage Town 4-5 pens
124 Yateley United 0-2 Shortwood United att 216
- got to this one at Sean Devereaux Park, tucked away north off the B3272 next to the Cricket club
- Yateley's debut in the Vase : sadly 'Wood were too big, strong and match-wise once they grabbed a lead 1st half.
Good day otherwise for the home side, who have come a long way from their pre-merger days (2013) and are very much following in Ascot & Eversley's footsteps, developing up steadily from Grassroots levels. Nice new clubhouse and it looks as if lights will be going up very soon.

129 Portishead Town 4-0 Berks County
132 Reading City 6-0 Clanfield 85
134 Fri Sandhurst Town 2-4 Highworth Town att 91
136 Banstead Athletic 2-1 Colliers Wood United

Windsor and Elton won 5-0 at Wargrave on Saturday.

Next up is TOTT Finchampstead on Saturday. That should be a good indicator....

Bank Holiday Monday 28th August

NAT
Eastleigh 3-0 Aldershot Town Sh!ts lost their keeper to a Red Card on 34’ and didn’t have a keeper on the bench – a sub striker went in goal and immediately conceded from the resultant Chris Maguire free-kick – albeit from the Beebs’ description, it sounded pretty unstoppable even with a conventional no. 1 between the posts.
New signing for the ‘Spitfires’ Enzio Boldewijn grabbed a brace 2nd half

Kidderminster Harriers 0-0 Maidenhead United
Oxford City
4-0 Boreham Wood - first win for City at STEP01 all the goals beyond the hour mark.
Wealdstone 0-2 Dagenham & Redbridge
Woking 2-0 Dorking Wanderers
NATN
Banbury United 0-3 Buxton
Peterborough Sports 0-3 Brackley Town
NATS
Chippenham Town 2-1 Slough Town ‘Rebels’ drop to the bottom as Havant upset Yeovil 4-3 at the Draper Tools Stadium (Westleigh Park in ‘old money’.)
Truro City 3-1 Farnborough

SLP-C
AFC Sudbury 1-1 Berkhamsted both goals in the dying stages
Hitchin Town 1-2 Royston Town
Kettering Town 1-1 St Ives Town
Leiston 0-0 Needham Market
SLP-S
Basingstoke Town 3-2 AFC Totton –as mentioned above by ptr - att 1,003 – George Reid with the winner again.
- ‘Dragons’ drawn away at AFC Stoneham in the FA Cup 1Q next Sat
– might try and see how easy it is to get in, as I’ve not been to their new Stoneham Lane complex - sited fairly near to Eastleigh’s Silverlake Stadium – just the other side of the M27.
– they usually have some kind of registration process on entry for league games, as it’s a big ‘shared’ sports facility
– sure they’ll have to ditch that arrangement, if they are likely to be invaded by ‘stoke hordes?

Chesham United 3-0 Beaconsfield Town
Hanwell Town 1-1 Hayes & Yeading United
Hungerford Town 2-2 Didcot Town - att 505 - decent point for ‘Diddy’
Swindon Supermarine 0-3 Merthyr Town - ‘Martyrs’ stay top and 100% 6 from 6.
Walton & Hersham 5-2 Bracknell Town att 761 – ‘Robins’ led at the break but were ‘swamped’ with 5 goals 2nd half – included 4 in 20 min spell from around 50 mins – Jordan Espirit grabbed one back from the penalty spot but the Swans restored the three goal margin immediately through Eddie Simon.

Winchester City 1-1 Salisbury - att 507
SL1-C
Kings Langley 2-0 Aylesbury United
North Leigh 2-1 Cirencester Town att 191
Thame United 1-2 Kidlington

IL1-SC
Ashford Town (Middx) 0-0 Southall
Badshot Lea
0-1 Ascot United
Chertsey Town
2-1 Hartley Wintney
Leatherhead 0-0 Westfield
Marlow
6-1 Sutton Common Rovers
Metropolitan Police 1-1 Hanworth Villa
Northwood 4-1 Binfield
Uxbridge 3-1 Thatcham Town att 106
- got to this for my Match Two today: – quick nip up from Ascot past Legoland, round Windsor and over M4, so no traffic issues. Arrived nice and early and even got a space in the main car park.
- ex-Royal from the noughties - Dean Morgan - playing as an attacker for the ‘Red Army’, he looked pretty neat for 39 years young – set up or heavily involved in two of the goals. ‘Kingfishers’ looked a bit out of sorts and lost their perfect start.
- not sure how long Uxbridge are ‘borrowing‘ Arbour Pk whilst their stadium is being uplifted - I know they are staging their FA Cup 1Q tie there vs Cray Valley, next Sunday (3rd)

CCL-PN
Ardley United 4-2 Wokingham & Emmbrook
Chalfont St Peter 1-2 Edgware & Kingsbury
Egham Town 1-1 Bedfont Sports - att 130
Flackwell Heath 3-0 Hilltop - att 217
Milton United 4-0 Risborough Rangers
North Greenford United 2-2 Wembley
Wallingford & Crowmarsh 4-1 Harefield United
CCL-PS
Alton 0-2 Farnham Town - att 481
Cobham PP Epsom & Ewell -had been re-scheduled for Tuesday evening?
Fleet Town 1-3 Camberley Town
Horley Town 3-1 Tooting & Mitcham United
Knaphill 2-0 Sheerwater - att 252
Spelthorne Sports 0-3 Abbey Rangers
CCL-1
Bagshot 3-2 Yateley United
Berks County 2-1 Eversley & California
- this was my choice for Match One today - played at Ascot's Racecourse Ground. So I saw both 100% starters beaten in my two games. Only 45 as official attendance -the 'Swords' had too much for the 'Boars' on the day.
- arrived ready for my Breakfast Roll as Ascot advertise in their wide selection menu and although the Kitchen was fully operational today (possibly being run by Berks Co volunteers as was often the case over at Binfield) through some pretty abject stock-control issues they'd run out of bacon AND Eggs after the first few customers  !

British Airways 2-2 Bedfont
Hillingdon Borough 0-3 Spartans Youth
London Colney 0-1 Langley
Penn & Tylers Green
1-3 Amersham Town
Windsor
3-2 Holmer Green
Brook House 1-2 London Samurai Rovers

HELL- P
Highworth Town 1-0 Royal Wootton Bassett Town - att 242 – RWBT perfect record goes and Corsham take over top spot
HELL-1
Kidlington Res 0-5 Long Crendon
