Ascotexgunner Out-thought and out-dark arted.

Thought Earp's moved on the penalty as well. Do they not check that?

Wanted England to win but they just don't seem to have the attacking fluency they had in previous games.

Looking at a replay of the penalty from behind the goal, Earps kept one of her feet well behind the line so although she clearly moved forward, one of her feet was on the line as the ball was struck.

Better team on the day won; no complaints.

Too many England players not at it -= or out-played to be not at it; Stanway, Russo, Toone, Walsh.....frankly the back 3 and the keeper did great work to keep it to one nil.

One little gripe - the Spanish centre forward (#18) was a bit nasty and should have got a red when she hoofed the ball away when a free kick was given.

Actually, as the ball was struck I thought her back foot was way off the ground. It might have still been behind the line though - couldn't tell. (Not that I know if that is allowed tbh!)

Just found these - so I assume being above (not ON) the line is allowed.

It will be interesting to see how much of a legacy follows the team's reasonable success over the past couple of years.

Much has been made of how well they have done but did I hear right that they made it to the last 3 World Cup semi-finals.
If so, this was a step further forward but we know from the men's game how hard it is to win the ultimate prize.

We have heard how young girls will be inspired, which they may well be, but the media has portrayed it as if there is no football for them and yet I am led to believe that girls' football in schools is already extensive as well as junior football away from schools-is that right?.

I think we will know that women's football has truly arrived when Sky starts to offer major coverage.

The Australian media reportage of the final has been utterly hilarious. It's been worse than their Ashes coverage and we all know how salty they got when someone sang a song about Steve Smith crying on TV.

Not with much build-up or coverage though and I did say "major" coverage.

Football being shown without hours of pre-match build up bull****, sounds like heaven!

I do wonder how many times over the past week Luis Rubiales, head of the Spanish FA, has asked himself 'why, like, why the fcuking fcuk, did I forcibly kiss Jenni Hermoso on the lips?'

Rubiales now expected to lose his job.

Still claiming it was mutual. What a tit.

It's the Spanish captain I feel sorry for, the crowning moment of her career, completely overshadowed and tainted

Gotta love Borgia Inglesia, he is saying that there is no chance he will play for Spain again unless Rubialis goes.

Be more Borgia Inglesia.

Is the lady in question in charge of all horse racing in the UK, and can end that jockey's career?

Did the lady in question grab her crotch at the end of the race whilst stood next to The Princess of Wales and Princess Charlotte?

Does the lady in question back a trainer who demands the young females in his squad are NOT allowed to lock their hotel room doors at night so that he can enter, unannounced and uninvited, into their rooms at all hours of the night?

Yeah, no difference at all.....................................................

I am amazed that the guy still has his job and that he hasn't been arrested yet.

If powerful men in positions of authority over young women think they can do what he did with impunity, and that other people see nothing wrong with that, then that sets women's sport - not just football - back decades.

He has been suspended by FIFA now.

And the Spanish women's teams' coach, and the whole of his coaching staff, have resigned this afternoon.

Agree Mr A.

There's also no real pervasive history of women abusing positions of power over men or a huge problem with women on men sexual assault. Although it can happen.

If that jockey came out and said it was unwelcome, unwanted and awkward, I'd support him too though.

The thing about consent, is the person who hasn't consented gets to decide if its ok. Some may not care, others may. Just because one person doesn’t mind, doesn't mean its ok not to get it.

edit: SSN were wrong; it is just the coaching staff who have resigned in support of the women. The coach - who the President of the Spanish FA dedicated the win too! - remains.
