Looks like this is a done deal. Season long loan. Saints fans giving him rave reviews.

Selles knows him so hopefully he’ll do well. I’d still like us to sign Wareham who I believe is 2 years older.

It doesn’t fit well that we’re signing another team’s under 21 player to play ahead of our own. Let’s hope he’s as prolific as when a very young Jermain Defoe played a season in the old 3rd Division for Bournemouth.

It fits if they're better than what we've got. Wareham has played well in a couple of U23 matches, but Ballard has torn up U18 and U23 leagues for over a year plus he knows Selles from Soton. A couple of loanees do no harm - it's not like last year where our entire midfield was on loan.

How’s that compare with signing a mature player ahead of our own current mature players.

With our average age starting 11 less than 22, looks like he’s straight into the first team.

Sounds like it is happening. Still think we’re relying on big Kelv a bit too much getting in another smaller striker. If Kelv stays fit then all good but I’ve my concerns

Anyway - K, Smith, Ballard, Vickers - some talent there. Would definitely be happy to see Wareham sign as back up and hopefully push for the first team

Would be happy with this, seems to fit the way the club is going as well even if it is only a loan. Good to have another option and leaves our striking options respectable as of now, there is some actual ability there.

Penny for the thoughts of Jahmari Clarke right now.

The club see him week in week out in training. Hate to be blunt, but if they had faith in him he'd be playing. If you can't force your name into the picture this summer of all summers, perhaps it is time to find opportunities elsewhere.

Isn't he still recovering from injury? So not really training in a way where he could make an impact.

Would imagine, if/when fit, then he'd be seen as the obvious back up for KE.

He has been very unlucky with injuries as well as KE emerging and overtaking him during recovery.

Maybe I misunderstood. Well he may still get chances if so. Vickers and Ballard won't offer much physicality for all their talents, so Clarke would offer a point of difference if anything happens to Kelvin E.

Players around him are getting chances, he’s not. Think he will need to be asking himself why.

He was obvs injured but seemed to play a one off game for u21, scoring a great goal, and then disappeared again

Be nice for a journo to ask Hunt where he’s at. He is capable - has scored a few at men’s level already

Still think I'd rather see someone in their mid to late 20s with a scoring record as low as Conf S/N than yet another young inexperienced player.

We have Ehibhatiomhan, Vickers, Clarke and Azeez even there, not to mention Wareham probably deserving a deal.

Being mentioned that saints are trying to get the Ross Stewart deal over the line before they give it the green light. Not sure Dom is in their plans just yet though.

Soton travel to Sunderland tomorrow apparently so can guess the reason for their keenness.
