Mid Sussex Royal Good stuff all, 6 games into the season, and with a points deduction and chaos pre season, and we've got to 4 pages on sacking the manager.

As the season progresses. Will take a toll on the young players. Not equipped for the rigours of a full 46 match plus season.

I think it's utterly bonkers to even contemplate sacking the manager just six games into a season with a totally rebuilt, relatively inexperienced squad. Rebuilt, I might add, against a backdrop of League embargoes, points deductions, and bugger all money available to the manger for transfer fees.

We may be a relatively big fish in this pond, but let us not forget that for the past 20 odd years, the boot's been on the other foot, and we've had fans of bigger franchises than ours coming on here giving it the "a club of our stature deserves to be in the..." bolox.

Yeah, we have great training facilities, and a flash stadium. That helps in player recruitment, but count for zero points in the league table.
Not so long ago, both Leeds and Sunderland were playing at this level, and both struggled like fcuk to get out of it.

Nobody is, we`ve had this manager out thread for the last 10 years to keep the bed wetters happy.

Tbf, the only people saying sack him now are utterly bonkers. Most people are saying too early, sacking him would be madness, or not looking great but too early to sack him

It rude to call Royal JiDDy utterly bonkers. From his posts we can see that he is perfectly sane.

He's "lost the dressing room". Waiting on the "vote of 'confidence'" any day now.

Can I just point out that all those clamouring for the kids to be thrown in last year … they’ll get better but would have been ripped a new one in the Championship, as is being demonstrated at times

It’s been said many times that we’ll have good and bad days this season.

It’s too early to do anything other than relax and enjoy the ride

Not many people wanted them thrown in wholesale, which is largely where we are now plus a lot of new signings. And Abbey, Ehibhatiomhan and Camara have all demonstrated they were more than capable of improving us. If used well. And more Championship game time last season would likely mean fewer errors this season.

The 'Manager Out' thing on Hob Nob has a pretty predictable cycle

  1. Some starts a joke 'Manager Out' thread as soon as the announcement is made.
  2. We lose 2 games in a row and few posts are made grumbling about the manager.
  3. Everyone else replies to this saying that they are bedwetters.
  4. We win a couple of game and everything goes quiet.
  5. Repeat 2-4, but each time the number of people moaning increases.
  6. We reach the 'tipping point' where the forum is equally split between those that want the manager out and those that went them to stay.
  7. Dai fires the manager and replaces them with someone with no experience or track record.
  8. Go back to step 1.

I think Dai normally sacks well after the consensus is get rid. But spot on otherwise.

The joke posts and thread starts really don't help imo.

Agreed that the 6 page thread is mostly people taking the bait and responding to a few bed wetters rather than the fan base losing their mine after 6 games. Perhaps we should learn to give them less oxygen, but then what's the point of a forum if you do that?

Didn't realise that Selles is already up to being at least the 22nd longest serving manager in the Division already:

Most teams have played just six matches to date as most of the division is awaiting the end of the first international break of the campaign.

However, that has not stopped owners from pulling the trigger, with Dean Holden and Scott Brown losing their jobs at Charlton Athletic and Fleetwood Town respectively.

Former Oxford United and Lincoln City boss Michael Appleton has taken over at the Valley.

Meanwhile, former Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has taken over on the Fylde coast.

Experienced but an utterly nondescript record as a manager. Think about the only highlights are a) being praised by Pep on his playing style while at Brizzle City and b) winning the FL Tonka Toy Trophy thing with Sunderland, other than that just a whole load of nothing. Not being not bad enough for relegation yet not really good enough for the play offs. Probably a good choice if you just want to keep yourself afloat in the division, would have been the ideal fit for Reading in the 60s and 70s when the club had zero ambition (and probably even less money).
