From Despair To Where? Our record win is 10-2.

Does this beat that?

Reckons so. 9 goal win vs 8 goal.

skipper BTW, absolutely class from Exeter here;

Cambridge had that too. Nice touch.

Indeed… there was a similar greeting 2 weeks ago and a free cuppa ! Very friendly place.

Shame they can't dominate like that in league games.

Have we to just forget the league season and just go for the cups instead?

Honestly not sure what to make of that. Fantastic result, but we need to be taking that into the league now going forward. Not sure how motivation Exeter had for the game either really, but you'd imagine it would be a trophy they would feel like they had a chance of doing well in, hardly a great start.

Biggest ever win in a competitive game since doing Chesham Generals 11-0 in the FA Cup in 1901.

Presumably league teams field full strength squads, so the gap isn't so large?

I think we will dominate a few teams this season. Those bottom 3 look likely candidates. But I doubt we'll have it as easy as tonight again for a long time!

On another note, it does somewhat make a mockery of the cup. When you have to play so many cup games, it's no wonder teams don't take it seriously.

Pepe the Horseman This is the best we've ever played. Elliott should've made it 2-0. Sent the keeper the wrong way, but saved with his feet.

Stunning early call

Just give this squad and manager a chance to do their job without any off pitch drama and points deductions, and watch them take off. Is that too much to ask?

Hardly like we were full strength and we are competing in the same league as them as well, not as if we've just faced someone several divisions below us.

Re the cups, you'd think that would be more motivation, rather than less. This trophy is a great chance for Exeter to visit Wembley, not something that happens often for any lower league club (despite numerous play off appearances) and it's a chance of some silverware which every fan wants. A good cup run and/or a big tie can set a lower league club up for a good couple of seasons (also a handy player sale or two helps as well). In an environment where clubs struggle to survive, you'd think it would be of great importance to them.
