He would have been one of the greats if he had focus and applied himself properly imo.

[Relevo] Some La Liga clubs are considering a joint action against Real Madrid. Madrid harshness against Javier Tebas outraged several other Club leaders during the last League assembly.

To be fair, the service at airport Costa is not always speedy

Jonjo Shelvey came on as a sub for his debut for new club Rizespor yesterday when they were 1-0 down, his team then scored in the 89th minute and then in the 92nd minute Shelvey played a long ball through the middle which his team mate scored to get the win

Rizespor up to 2nd in the Turkish Superlig

Awful start to the season in Serie A for Empoli, who lost 7-0 at Roma, and have now lost their opening four games of the season without scoring a goal. Italy's yo-yo side, they have six promotions and five relegations in the last 25 years.

Takumi Minamino off to a flyer for Monaco this season, three goals and three assists in five games, already past his tally of five goal contributions (25 apps) last term.

Mbappe has seven in four games. It's a shame he's chosen to stay in an awful league until he is 25. Will be good to see him in La Liga next season.

Not sure that it is such an "awful" league-probably the 5th best in Europe.

Also if you are a Frenchman living and playing football in your home country, earning loads of money , playing in the Champions League every season and playing international football for one of the best teams in world football you might think that life isn't so bad.

I'm sure he doesn't think life is bad at all. He's certainly though one of the least 'tested' current stars of the game. I've little doubt he'd score buckets in the PL and La Liga, but it would be good to see him give it a shot, as it looks like he will next season.

Was looking back at a a mid 90's La Liga table earlier and I noticed a team called Compostela that I had never heard of who were sitting in 10th place. Thought I would look them up

89-90 - 4th div promotion
90-91 - 3rd div promotion
93-34 - 2nd div promotion
4 seasons in La Liga incl a 10th place finish
97-98 - La Liga relegation (via relegation play off match)
00-01 2nd div relegation
01-02 - 3rd div promotion
02-03 - 2nd div demotion (financial issues)
03-04 - 3rd div relegation and demotion to 5th div (financial issues)
05-06 - demotion down to 8th tier after club goes bust

What a ride! 4th up to top division in the space of 5 seaosns, for first time in history, then down to 8th division in the next 9 seasons

Indeed, quite a journey. Equivalent might be Luton now being non-league again by 2030 or so. Mind you, Garth Crooks probably thinks they should be.

You've started something though. Was amazed how similar the Serie A table looked in the mid-90s.

In the Bundesliga, the 1994-95 season saw KFC Uerdingen 05 finish in 15th spot. Their journey not so rapid though - promoted out of the regional leagues in the mid 70s, they eventually spent the best part of 15 years in the top division, relegated in 1996, and are now in the fifth tier Oberliga.

Another team in their fifth tier is AS Cannes in France. They were in Ligue 1 in the late 80s and early 90s, and perhaps most famous for their shock 4th placed finish in 1990-91, and qualification for the UEFA Cup, with a team that included a young Zinedine Zidane. Patrick Vieira also started his career there.

Didn't Swansea go Div 4 to Div 1 and then back again in not far off consecutive seasons in the late 70s\early 80s?

Northampton did it in the 60’s
Not sure they hung around in any division more than a year at a time either

Pretty sure Bristol City went 1-4 in consecutive seasons.

<Yep 79-82>

Wolves emulated them 83/86.

Swansea took 4 season's to go 1-4. (82/83 to 85/86) They also took 7 season's to go 4-1 (04/05-10/11) but obviously, there was 30 years between the 2 occurrences.

Northampton were in Div 4 in 60/61 and again in 69/70 but as franchise says, they went up to Div 1 and back down again in the intervening years. They went 4332212334.

Wimbledon took 4 seasons to go 4-1, all the more remarkable that it took them 10 years to go from non league to Div 1.
