As I said before, they're not a year older, because the point isn't about them playing in September 2022. It's about them playing in February, March, April and May 2023.

It certainly is moot though. Because we can't wind back the clock.

Pepe the Horseman
scumbag
Pepe the Horseman For anyone that wants to get carried away, we're 16/1 to win the EFL Trophy and 12/1 to finish top 6 in the league.

Not sure where you're getting 12s from? Betfair is 16/5 for top 6

Sky Bet

I've taken that!

Hardly like we were full strength and we are competing in the same league as them as well, not as if we've just faced someone several divisions below us.

Re the cups, you'd think that would be more motivation, rather than less. This trophy is a great chance for Exeter to visit Wembley, not something that happens often for any lower league club (despite numerous play off appearances) and it's a chance of some silverware which every fan wants. A good cup run and/or a big tie can set a lower league club up for a good couple of seasons (also a handy player sale or two helps as well). In an environment where clubs struggle to survive, you'd think it would be of great importance to them.

You can question their team selection but their team was a lot younger than ours, both in age and relative experience, which at that age makes a huge difference and it showed. A 9-0 win cannot be sniffed at but let's not go too overboard.

Our Starting XI average age was a year younger than theirs.

And had Dean in it to pretty much add one year to that average!

<pedant mode> our starting lineup was, on average, about 2 months younger than theirs.

The big difference is their starting lineup had 5 players younger than our youngest starter.
