Re: another, thants right another embargo for late PAYE payments - a new embargo (1st 23/24 embargo)

windermereROYAL I`m wondering that now the EFL have got their teeth into Dai that we may get a bit of leeway if wages are not paid again.
After all it all falls on his shoulders.however HMRC could be an entirely different story though.

It's very similar to what happened at Wigan. They didn't get leniency.

Rumours circulating on Twitter again that we're going to struggle with wages and HMRC next week. Even if we do pay everybody, I look forward to a time when we can take it for granted again.

Dai has fought every inch pf the way with the aid of top legal advice against the EFL. Then subsequently reneged on what was agreed. There's no grounds for trust or belief in Dai's sincerity at all. Not that it will bother him personally. The club will take the punishment for his lack of inaction ultimately. Grinding Dai down maybe the only way to oust him from the club. The danger being that his ego won't allow him to walk away. Three clubs. Three failures.

Lower West Dai has fought every inch pf the way with the aid of top legal advice against the EFL.

Maybe if he spent less of the club's money on top legal advice there'd be enough to pay wages and PAYE.

PAYE tax for Aug was due today. Reckon we may have heard if not paid.

I asked Earnshaw & Dellor following posts they made about other stuff, neither have replied.

Sounds like a decent strategy.

So, the start of a new working week and we can only guess and wait to see if the tax that was due last Friday was paid or not.
Wages this week too.

Hopefully its because they are prioritising the wages, as previous months.

How long is it before the players refuse to play if they`re not getting paid?

But they are being paid? It seems as though we're prioritising paying them over HMRC.

Seems to be from multiple sources.

Given we are outside of a window and already can't sign anyone for a fee until 2025 - Dai is clearly focusing on getting the wages paid and then hoping to find the money for the tax - as unless the EFL bring some new charge for tax non-payment, which I'm not sure there is, then the dice roll he's playing is pay the wages, avoid more charges, then hopefully pay tax (or get some other sucker to do that bit).

Yes - from memory the wages have been paid on time every month since April, and prior to that was this time last year.

HMRC has been late 3 out of last 4 months, Aug being the exception, probably as was at the end of the transfer window.

Can only hope this pattern continues on Friday.

I don't think we leave it unpaid long enough for that.

But we'll have to wait and see.

Given we paid it last time, the wages are a worry again.

That takes a few weeks but wouldn't bet against it - Dai is clearly hoping that someone gives the club cash shortly so is trying to pay the absolute bare minimum to keep things ticking - as of now, that is the wages due on Friday.

If he doesn't pay those, put a fork in us, we are done.

That's fair. Given our situation though, I can't imagine HMRC would allow multiple late payments of tax to go unpunished? Even if they are resolved in a short time frame, you'd surely think there would have to be some form of punishment in place somewhere?

If wages an issue on Friday can we borrow money from the PFA? I'm sure this has been available in the past but must admit heard anyone borrowing from them recently....

HMRC will treat Reading like any other business. HMRC fines for late payments aren't actually very bad. Reading should be far more scared of sanctions from the EFL in points that relegate us rather than HMRC fines.

The big problem comes if Reading just dont pay ever, and then HMRC won't hang around to issue winding up orders. This is because companies often treat HMRC like a low interest bank account they dont have to pay because it doesnt harm a commerical relationship. It's also illegal to choose to pay some creditors and not others when trading insolvently.

Therefore HMRC takes nuclear action against football clubs quickly with quick results, the club pays rather than be wound up.

Here are HMRC's fines:
