YorkshireRoyal99 That's fair. Given our situation though, I can't imagine HMRC would allow multiple late payments of tax to go unpunished? Even if they are resolved in a short time frame, you'd surely think there would have to be some form of punishment in place somewhere?
HMRC will treat Reading like any other business. HMRC fines for late payments aren't actually very bad. Reading should be far more scared of sanctions from the EFL in points that relegate us rather than HMRC fines.
The big problem comes if Reading just dont pay ever, and then HMRC won't hang around to issue winding up orders. This is because companies often treat HMRC like a low interest bank account they dont have to pay because it doesnt harm a commerical relationship. It's also illegal to choose to pay some creditors and not others when trading insolvently.
Therefore HMRC takes nuclear action against football clubs quickly with quick results, the club pays rather than be wound up.
