Think the 3 promoted teams look by far the worst 3 that have ever gone up in history

Burnley have had the Manchester pair and Spurs in their first 5, as well as a good Villa team. Their most favourable fixture was Forest away where they drew and were unlucky not to win.

They have the best chance of the 3. Wolves, Everton and Bournemouth are all at risk. But agree Luton and Sheffield United are both write offs. And while Burnley can stay up, I can only see bottom 6.

Franchise FC
Royal Rother I said Pre-season that the one position Arsenal REALLY needed to focus on was getting a top class centre forward.

They didn’t address it for some utterly bizarre reason and will continue to suffer the consequences until they do.

They did address it, they bought Havertz

I didn’t say they addressed it well

I’m not entirely sure what Havertz was signed to be, but it surely wasn’t as a striker.

Dirk Gently It'll take Sheff Utd a long, long time to recover from a stuffing at home like this one....

Doesn’t history show that teams getting stuffed in that manner generally come out of it better for some bizarre reason?

There’s already a fair divide in the table after just 6 games

Usual suspects at the top, predictable bottom 5/6 and the usual mid table teams like Palace stuck in the middle. Brighton, Villa and West Ham have all impressed so far but European games may hold them back somewhat.

Looks like Liverpool will have to be the team to pose any sort of threat to City this season. Not been impressed by Arsenal, as mentioned elsewhere they don’t have enough up top.

from a possible 48 points between them, the 3 promoted teams so far have picked up just 3, and occupy all the relegation places

a bit disappointing. Though this season always felt like one where 2 of the promoted teams looked almost dead certs to come straight back down again

I still reckon Burnley may well stay up

Southampton were 18th after they lost 9-0 at home against Leicester City in October 2019, but lost just eight of their last 26 games and finished comfortably mid-table - in fact they were in 9th place just three months later.

Bournemouth didn't lose for six weeks after their 9-0 defeat at Anfield last season.

What surprised me most yesterday about Sheffield Utd was that nobody tackled and Newcastle couldn't believe their luck.
This is a team that historically have always been physically aggressive but they currently look really weak and will need more than the return of McBurnie to turn things around.

One other factor of course has been money-they have hardly spent any and have lost their best player Berge.
Same goes for Luton regarding money whereas Newcastle had 3 subs to come on who cost well in excess of £100 million.

I presume they just completely focus on defence - possibly at the expense of everything else. So they might pick up a few more draws but I can't see any way they can survive because what they'll need are wins.

That performance yesterday was utterly hapless and completely gutless and all the defensive tightening in the world won't help them.

Tbf, with what had happened at Sheff Utd earlier in the week that display wasn't really a surprise. Especially after they shipped a couple of early goals :( Agree they are nailed on to go down though.

Burney really impressed me at Forest last Monday. They've got a fighting chance.

So when was the last time a team had 8 different goalscorers in 1 game?

<I'm pretty sure I know the answer and I know of 1 instance of 9 goalscorers from 1 team>

Staying up isn't even in the picture at the moment for Sheffield United. In fact as of now even beating Derby's 12 points looks distant.

Trips to West Ham, Brighton and Arsenal in their next six, and they host Manchester United. Could look pretty ugly by the middle of November.

Technically, February 2021. United beat Southampton 9-0 and seven United players got on the scoresheet, however so too did Southampton's Jan Bednarek, for eight different goalscorers in the match. This is the first time in England though that eight different players have scored for the same team.

There will be plenty of such instances if you count both teams. There were eight different players on the scoresheet when Arsenal beat us 7-5 (including Koscielny at both ends), and nine (including two own goals) when we lost 7-4 at Portsmouth.

I was thinking 8 different scorers for their own team.

Yep and Nicol got his 2nd in the 90th minute.

Liverpool had 9 different scorers when they beat Stromsgodset 11-0 in 1974 which I believe is a record for an English League club (in a first team competitive fixture).

Interestingly* after Spurs' great start to the season, they now have exactly the same amount of points as they had this time last season.

Thought Conte got them playing well at the beginning, but it was obviously a very toxic situation - seems much more relaxed with big Ange, less likely the wheels are going to come off.
