AthleticoSpizz Yeah (re. Scunny) the Buxton v Scunny participants have recently been told that they must re-run the entire game (that was abandoned in the 96th minute) last week.
It rained, the ref abandoned, it stopped raining, and the pitch was playable 15 minutes later ftr
Both managers bemused by the total lack of consultation/communication from the ref. (Buxton were a goal to the good when the game was binned off)
P the R what was the right decision?
League rules would state what should happen here, but ultimately the blame lays entirely with the referee. What on earth was he thinking. He had a whole host of options available to him. I had a situation many years ago in a high profile game. Score was 2:1 and the pitch was freezing over, game moved into injury time. Pitch was becoming totally unplayable and dangerous to everyone.
Now admittedly this was before the day that added time had to be disclosed, but i just finished the game early, reset the watch, and told all and sundry time had been played and game over. I might of finished a little early but no one knew. Ref could of done similar, as a team they could of foreseen what was coming and reduced added on time, or just pause the game, let the weather pass, and get back out there. So in summary, referee done the league and both teams no favours there whatsoever.
