Plus one on the Cheers Clyde

Sounds like a decent number for an away game, and a bit of a pig for public transport a that.

Easy car journey though, can get there after work if you finish by 5pm etc. You can get back to Reading from Northampton as well as the last train to Euston isn't until 10.30 ish.

Bit pointless leaving your car in Northampton tho.

Is anyone familiar with Northampton? How gnarled up does it get with traffic around 6.45-7pm?

Found it to be a fairly easy place to navigate. Not been there for a few years mind you.

Booked a table at a place I wanted to try at 18:00 which is about 10 mins drive/2.7mls from the ground but just wondering if it would be cutting it too tight considering I need to guarantee a seat at or close to the front as well.

I can't see you having too much of an issue, its not a particularly busy town and neither is the ground itself. I'd take the chance personally

I'd say traffic there is incredibly busy for the size of the place, particularly around the M1 junctions, but the dual carriageways and ring roads work pretty well. The traffic queues around the ring road to the A45 but it moves steadily.

Don't think there ever were? or, at least, no direct lines along that route.

Best bet would be Varsity line* to Bletchley and then West Coast Main Line to Northampton.

Think you possibly could have changed at Bedford, St Johns to Midland.

*Now East-West rail. The bit that's missing is between Cambridge and Bedford.

Yeah wouldn't be direct, but with an East-West line through to Oxford, I could to Bedford or MK quickly and easily and then transfer to Northampton for a much better journey than into London and out again.

Yeah, was just thinking about pre-Beeching railway lines. Added a note about Bedford, but that would have been a walk between the two Bedford stations.

Varsity line is basically coming back, so that's nice.

I still can't quite get my head around how hard it is to go west from Heathrow.

Around 1,400 sold now - with 74 tickets remaining on the club website. Good effort on a Tuesday night.

They've opened up another small section if anyone fancies a last-minute decision to go...

It's pretty awful so I'd allow plenty of time. Despite it not being huge the traffic grinds to a halt on football and rugby match days
