No signs of improvement and he’s sucked what confidence and joy these youngsters had, out of them. I backed him because what else you going to do but like Pauno and Ince he continues to make shocking decisions and no indication he’s learning from mistakes. Don’t expect him to go anywhere soon but the players could manage themselves more effectively.

This formation is dumb. Reluctance to change is dumb.

Is there any point of continuing this thread? I feel like the fanbase must be near unanimous? Selles should definitely go, but Dai out is the bigger issue.

Anybody disagree? This thread can just become a place where we all agree with each other and get along.

He's getting away with too much because the criticism is going on the owner.

Nothing will change until Dai is gone. Get a new manger, new line up, new tactics. None of that matters when the teams knows that whatever they do in the pitch might be wiped out by the owner's finances.

Unfortunately real life is far more complex. Not a computer football fantasy game. Which seems to be the way the game has evolved since spending money became the marker of success.

The bloke is the classic combination of clueless and arrogant. He’s too stubborn to change so he needs to be removed, now.

Surely anything less than a win Tuesday and I see the calls getting louder to change the manager. Sadly Bowen doesn't have the authority to sack managers and Dai has gone AWOL so we're stuck with these ineffective tactics. These results are not going to do the development of these youngsters any good at all.

Put Selles on garden leave as can not afford to sack him, let Bowen and Hunt take charge until we get a new owner .

So Ruben has a 56% career loss rate as a manager.

If you cut out cup games it's 62%

League games for us it's 67%. Also known as, he's getting worse.

In 29 league games as a professional manager, he has won an almighty 5. That's 17%.

And he's playing with a talented, but inexperienced, squad at a fairly low level.

He has to be the worst manager we've ever had.

A challenge for a lot of fans is knowing how good this squad really is, and how much better a different manager could do.

I don't buy the argument that it's an inexperienced squad destined to struggle. Button, Yiadom, Dean and Hutchinson are EFL veterans, while Wing, McIntyre, Knibbs, Mbengue, Smith, NGW and Holmes have experience. And some of the rookies are the most talented; Abbey, Bindon and Vickers will play at a higher level, probably for different clubs.

I think this is a top half squad, and maybe the off field situation would drag them down to bottom half / relegation battle under any decent manager.

They are not absolute relegation fodder, which is what they look like under Selles. I think Hunt for the remainder of the season could keep them up, especially if the ownership situation is resolved by Christmas. If we don't act we're only going one way, sadly.

I know Abbey will play at a higher level, but I really don't want to see such a talented player who is mature beyond his years leave on a free after we're relegated to L2. But that is the current trajectory.

Under what circumstances will Selles go? Is a takeover with new owner bringing in a new manager the only option?

Who at the club has the authority to sack Selles? What are the options for a replacement - guess someone already at the club but not Ruben's backroom staff

Bowen might put a different coloured tie on and go into the dugout again.

League win ratio is not yet as bad as that of the worst manager in Reading's history to date, Paul Clement. The RS league win ratio is currently 23.07% while Clement's tenure finished as 21.30%. And if you compare RS to PC's first 12 league games in charge it's a massive improvement as Clement only had a league win ratio of 8.3% after 12 league games.

Therefore Clement was quite staggeringly ****** awful and he didn't have the embargoes and point deductions on top of it all.

The replacement is easy. We have a choice of Hunt or Bowen.

It's someone who can pull the trigger. But I think that will come soon.

Probably have to wait until a takeover is complete as new owners may want to have "their own man" in as they start to put their mark on things. If things do get really bad then the only real option is to put Hunt/Gilkes/Niedzwiecki/Bowen in as a temporary arrangement until the ownership is sorted (which obviously could be quite a while) as I really can't see another new manager wanting the job when they don't know what on earth is going to happen and whether the new owners would want them there.

Bowen has proven himself in similar circumstances before. Give him the rest of the season, Carey can be acting head of football ops. All hands on deck until the new owner comes in, and then we can have *another* reset next summer.

It all looks hopeless now, but however low we go we can bounce back. Bolton got as low as L2 and it will now be a matter of time until they're Championship again. I want a quick resolution to everything, but the quality of new owner matters infinitely more than speed, even if the uncertain situation condemns us to L2.

Another relegation would involve horrible decisions about restructuring, our academy, our facilities etc., but there will be difficult decisions for new owners in L1 too. I'd rather get in someone who gets the decisions right.
