Elm Park Kid My 'sauce' - who has been 100% accurate so far this season - is telling me that there are currently no plans to sack Selles.

I mean, for one Dai would need to actually be in contact with someone at the club for that to happen!

I have no sauce but I know they won’t sack him

You are mixing up this season with next season in L2 or the season after in the Vauxhall Conf

Get rid of him, Noel Hunt worked with most of the squad in the youth team and can just switch to whatever tactics they were playing there instead of 2-2-2-2 or whatever it us we're trying to play. We also have Bowen who can lend a hand.

We won't get anyone externally before we get new owners, certainly nobody with any experience unless it's a Neil Warnock type character (or Neil Warnock) who just fancies a short term project.

Realistically though, our current owner probably has no idea of our results and is probably the only person who can fire Selles so it won't happen.

Mark Bowen can take some of the blame here for hiring Selles, Not that he had many candidates to choose from in the end after the other guy turned it down.

The owner is probably happy with the results, no wins = no win bonus payments = smaller wage bill to pay or not pay

Many calling for Hunt.

Love him of course but let's not forget he was utter shite and not the answer last season.

Bowen maybe, anyone else maybe. Hunt unlikely to be any better imo.

I hadn't thought of that ... that is a plus! Not in the long term, but in the short term :-)

Yeah I see this about Hunt but this is arguably as tough a situation to come into now as it was last season so I don't think this is the time for him. I think the club needs to be on far more stable footing and a better platform for Hunt first.

I mean, people are moaning about Selles for being an inexperienced coach, so we want to put someone in with even less experience as a head coach just because he is at the club. Not the job for him yet.

Bowen can do it then. We don't have any good options, but the way I see it you can roll the dice or do nothing. The latter guarantees an utterly miserable existence.

Is Bowen even the answer? There are certainly other options, it's not a completely hapless situation, but we have to change the owners first.

Exactly, I think Bowen is the only reasonable option atm.

Very harsh on Hunt. He came in with 5 games to go and we achieved creditable draws with Burnley, Luton and Wigan and narrowly lost to Coventry. If Carroll hadn't done his hand of God goal we might well have survived. I thought we showed more fight and passion in those games than in the 41 before or 13 since.

I would have preferred a seasoned EFL manager rather than Selles but there seems little point bringing in one now as any new owners would immediately sack and replace Selles with their own man as soon as they takeover, so Hunt as caretaker makes 100% sense because if we don't act soon relegation will become inevitable. And Hunt knows the young players better than most and might give them back some confidence. Cannot see any downside for Hunt as if he does well it will stand him in good stead for the future and if not he can go back to the U21 role.

If Dai is the only one who can sack him, it doesn't ring true that Bowen appointed him.

It should generally be the case that if you have the power to appoint you should have the power to sack, and vice versa.

Too much damage had been done and the squad just wasn't good enough. Get him in now and it's early enough and the squad is good enough.

And Hunt only lost 40% of his games, not the 70% Selles has. 0.6 pts a game. Selles will soon be below that (already is with points deductions pretty much).

Plus Hunt is likeable.

People are moaning about Selles because he's shit.

People correctly predicted he'd be shit because he was previously shit, inexperienced and had no relevant experience of the league.

I wasn't suggesting otherwise. But then why put Hunt in charge who was just as bad and is actually even less experienced.

Hunt had 5 games. Selles had 17.
Hunt lost 2 games, Selles lost 11.
Hunt comes with knowledge of the club and players. Selles didn't.
Hunt comes with experience playing in the lower leagues. Selles had none.
Hunt has an infectiously positive attitude. Selles is actively destroying the confidence of players.
Hunt is currently successful with the Academy. Selles is a total failure in management.

Our options are extremely limited, more so than at Selles appointment. Most people would prefer Bowen to Hunt anyway.
