Based on vfm, possibly. He is garbage.

Not sure about that.
They need a style of play embedded in - Klopp and Pep would at the very least introduce that.
Sure, they need to offload without a doubt, but Man Utd have very good individual players who are achieving (some) positive results with late late goals when playing poorly, but they are a mess because they just don't seem to have that identity that is a key facet of top teams.
ETH has a massive struggle on his hands but I'm not sure his demeanour is best suited to turning it around. Man management of millionaires is not straightforward and he doesn't seem to be a team builder with different attributes required to get the best out of a bunch of very different characters.
Yes, the top managers deserve their massive earnings because of their skill in handling and dealing with the whims of big ego players.
Klopp, Guardiola and Ancelotti have that skill but it looks as though ETH hasn't and just expects players at a top club on big money to be trusted to get on with the job-in the case of Man Utd that doesn't appear to be happening and long may that continue .
Klopp's average prem finishing position is about 3.75. Finished 5th last season, two places behind ETH
Why can't Klopp get consistency btw? (gen question)

Amazing to me how clubs are willing to sign players for an absolute fortune, with daft wages, after just 1 or 2 reasonably successful seasons in inferior leagues. Especially so when their characters have been shown to be somewhat questionable.

Not a bad average for a club that doesn't spend as much as some others and where the home championship is not the be all and end all.
Add in 1 Premier League title and 1 European Champs league plus 2 Champs League runners-up plus a number of domestic and international cups and some might say that the boy has done quite good for a truly international club over a fairly short period of time..

I've said a few times already that we were quoted £35M for him. Fooked around all summer chasing de Jong, when we went back Ajax pulled our pants down and doubled the price. It was looking like Anthony or nothing.
He like Maguire is a little unfortunate on the price tag. They are decent enough players but nowhere near £80M. United have found it really hard to shift these type of players off the books

Would imagine that's down to the obscene wages they are paying.

I think it comes down to coaching. It isn't a coincidence that more of these 'busts' seem to occur at United or Chelsea over say, Liverpool. Does anyone really think Sancho would have regressed in the manner that he has under Jurgen Klopp?

BRO_BOT Is Nunez actually any good? I'm inclined to say yes as he's a goal chance magnet but some of his finishing
On the whole LFC recruitment has been decent probably one in two makes the first team consistently and performs
United's recruitment has been pretty terrible over the last ten years but LFC have had some clangers as well. Karius cost you a CL final! AOC didn't light up any trees

With side-eye at your second post about the weight of an argument, I don't think anyone who claims that Liverpool's recruitment in the last few years has represented a coin flip is 'arguing' in good faith. Yes, all teams make bad purchases. It happens. Quite clearly, Liverpool's recruitment has been pretty standout. Also clearly, United's has been broadly abysma
Nunez is certainly a work in progress, but he has just one goal fewer than Suarez did at this stage of his Liverpool career, and is quite clearly improving. Including Nunez, 8 of Liverpool's top 10 biggest signings* are notionally 'successful' and most are first-choice. The other two are Fabinho, who was brilliant for three seasons, and Keita.
*Nunez, Van Dijk, Alisson, Szoboszlai, Diaz, Jota, Gakpo, Salah.
Fwiw, 11-13 on that list are Gravenberch, Konate and Mac Allister. Could argue jury out on two of them, but no indications at all that they will be a bust.
In contrast, United's most expensive signings are a mix of disaster, total disaster, and shamble. Pogba, okay you got a good season out of him. Lukaku. Ditto. One season. Antony. Sancho. True successes? Fernandes, Di Maria, maybe Casemiro, but you overpaid.
The other clear contrast between United and Liverpool in the transfer market is price, and you've highlighted it yourself. United keep getting their pants pulled down. Nunez is the only signing Liverpool have ever made who is more expensive than Harry Maguire. And it's marginal.

so we are broadly agreeing or am I missing something?
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jurgen- ... rainer/118
I (quickly tbf) went through the list of LFC signings and it's roughly one in two which is good. I think the average is usually one in three
Not making any judgment about most recent signings as you say jury still out
For every Matip you got on a free, there was also an Adrian, Manninger, Solanke, Adrian (there to do a job but wouldn't want to rely on them).
Shaquiri was alright (not exactly lighting up any trees) same as Tsmikas, AOC
Minimino, Grujic, Klavan, Ramsay, Melo, Kabak, Davies, Van der Berg didn't light up any trees

Sanguine I think it's reasonable to more heavily weight expensive transfers, like I did in the post I responded to.
I'm not up for some dickish 'oh we're agreeing then' when I clearly didn't. Nor am I up for you ignoring the points I made, either for attention or because you genuinely think me too stupid to notice.
I don't really know if you want a conversation or not, so I'll leave you to this.
