Interesting that the two live commentators said "red card" but 2 Ex-Man Utd veterans in the studio said that it was no worse than a yellow-what a surprise.

The two penalties involving the slap head - the first was a penalty but you can see why it might not have been given but the second was just a charity gift to Man Utd to go 3-2 up.

Fortunately, Man Utd's defence with that regular England starter commanding his area failed to stop Copenhagen scoring 2 more.
Galatasaray awaits for Ten Hag's brave (?) warriors.

So Brobot I guess last night's debacle was the fault of the Glazers as opposed to the manager or the players?

It's on the players as stated today on CL thread (iirc)

The live commentator whom Utd have shown the door to both him and his son.

Savage has always been pro Man Utd when spouting stuff in the media.

Whatever the rules to be applied are, there will always be controversies for the media and players / management to feel hard done by, but for me, I just think would be better if there were no penalties or cards issued for accidents.

It’s just does not sit well with me that accidents, in a fast moving physical game where most pivotal moments come down to where everyone is at every tiny fraction of a second, can end up being the deciding factor in the ultimate outcome.

The handball decisions made about unnatural position of the arm are invariably bollocks - they might be somewhat amusing / pleasing when they go against the team you want to lose, but to me they are almost always unfair and totally at odds with what I consider to be a fair sporting encounter.

And every month they seem to get more extreme. Natural evolution of the decision making process in some weird way I suppose but it’s gone way too far already.

What happened to the thicker lines giving benefit of the doubt to the attacker proposal that was (I think) Wenger’s big initiative earlier this year? I thought that was being adopted but doesn’t seem to have made any difference - it still comes down to millimetres of head, shoulders, knees and toes.

I’m still in favour of VAR but the guidance for use of the technology needs to be re-addressed and sharpish.

Royal Rother Rasmus Hojlund said, in all seriousness - "If you don't look at the result and only take the first 20 minutes into account we did quite well."

Saw the interview earlier, the reporter asks a couple of questions that pretty much lead up to that reply

paraphrasing but...

- how do you think the first twenty mins went?
- if you ignore the score, how do you think it went?

and then another question that got the reply which they (TNT) quoted and tweeted out, which is prolly where you got it from.

They have since deleted it after realizing the amount of trolling a twenty-year-old kid would get for it...and the manner in which they got it

Franchise FC Didn’t watch the game last night, but just caught up with the highlights, expecting to see a particularly controversial incident involving Rashford.

Just seen it and ….. the very definition of endangering an opponent and he was stamping down with his studs up a yard away from the ball so clearly not attempting to play the ball

Harsh penalties (both of them) but don’t see how United can claim they were unfairly treated

You will see a similar challenge not given a red within the next week or two. It's a fairly standard way of shielding the ball. You get into a wide base and set as quickly as possible. I believe he was doing this.

It's the outcome that's the problem. It's very severe. I'm biased, both toward Utd and the old school, hence finding it difficult to judge

Endo got a yellow earlier for something similar

No, that’s fine, I agree with you. Post match interviewers are always just looking for something that will make a headline and are clearly disappointed when they don’t get it.

Their tactics will work on even the most experienced players and managers in the post-match emotional state they are often in. TBF it stinks really and I am happy to acknowledge that.

Interesting* wrinkle if Jim Ratcliffe does become a significant shareholder at Man Utd and retains control of Nice.

UEFA rules state that if 2 clubs qualify for the CL that are part of a multi club group, only the club that finishes highest may participate. Nice are currently 2nd, Utd 6th. So currently Utd would not be allowed to participate in either the CL or Europa League. They could play in the Conference League but only if they qualify for it and Nice qualify for the CL. If Nice are in the Europa and finish higher then United would not be able to play in Europe.

Same applies in reverse naturally and could also impact Man City and Girona.

Maguire critics gone quiet in recent weeks. Almost like he wasn’t as bad as the media (and others) liked to portray

Sure, he has limitations and will likely come unstuck against the top teams but he’s still a decent defender, the witch hunt against him was embarrassing

Rashford is becoming a joke of a player.

Bags of talent - pathetic mentality.

I’d go so far as to say he’s a disgrace.

Add Martial to that list. Application is so poor

When you add the likes of Sancho and Pogba to that list, it’s not entirely surprising United have been poor for a while now. They did OK last season but still a fair distance away from the big boys and they won’t ever catch up with the likes of Rashford and Martial in the side

+1, there's about 4/5 in the current first team that need to go. The evidence is there, they've been shite under Jose, Ole and LVG. Another manager is going to make no difference
