Eastleigh (A)

by RG30 » 13 Nov 2023 16:43

So we know the date and kick-off time is Sunday, 3rd December with a 1:30pm kick-off live on ITV but still no ticket news or points categories. Under FA rules, we're entitled to a 15% allocation which would be in the region of 650-800 dependent on what they cap the capacity at. No news on which stand we're in either but Eastleigh have priced it at:

Terrace (North/East Stand)

Adult: £15
Concession (65+) or Student (17-20): £10
16 & Under: £5
Seated (South/West Stand)

Adult: £20
Concession (65+) or Student (17-20): £15
16 & Under: £5

And you need to get a rail replacement bus from Winchester to Southampton Parkway or Eastleigh.

Based on the updates Eastleigh have put on their website, they had less than 100 tickets in their East Stand yesterday and less than 100 tickets left in the North and West stands respectively today. Based on the information on their website, they do appear to be selling home tickets in the South Stand - which is where the away fans typically are at Eastleigh. They are only selling to season ticket holders and those with 2023-24 purchase history at the moment.

I'd be very surprised if we get more than the minimum allocation here - which would be roughly 750, depending on segregation.

Well I'm in the third category, so hopefully I don't miss out, it's on TV at least.

Wonder if any protests are planned since a TV game is great exposure for it.

4th category for me, but I don't really have any plans on going. Will probably watch on TV.

I'm in the top category, so hopefully shouldn't be an issue for me. The club generally ensures everyone in the top category has a chance to purchase a ticket.

I would've loved to see the meltdown if the club had announced priority for those who went to the Milton Keynes game.

If you don't go to less exciting games, you shouldn't expect to get tickets for popular ones.

Wouldn't be surprised if everyone, or close to everyone, in the top 2 categories would be guaranteed a ticket.

Thing is, I've only started going to away games again this season and I'm at 1415 despite being a ST holder for a good while now, so to get to 1500 and 1600 points it's clear you would need to be a regular attender of away games to reach the highest points categories.

I don't see why people are upset about this, the fans who have given most back to the club get priority.

I think it certainly would have been a good way to get more through the door for the Milton Keynes game. Maybe offer up 400 of the tickets to season ticket holders with the most points then keep another 400 for a ticket ballot where if you went to the MK Dons match you get one entry into the draw, something like that.

There is no way they are selling out the home end is there? I imagine a couple of hundred will get lucky that way.

Apparently they've never had a complete sell-out. Bound to be a fair few Reading fans in the home ends given how small the allocation is.

This.

There's also other methods of getting points. Going to home cup matches in the current points period has given me about 100 points. You also get 20 points for STAR membership annually, which has given me 80 points in the current period (I wasn't a member over the Covid period). Add five seasons of season tickets (1275 points) - and that means I'd only have to go to three away matches per season on average to get into the top category (without the STAR membership, it would be five away matches per season).

It's not like getting into the top category is hugely difficult. You simply have to be willing to go to some less attractive away matches if you want to ensure you can get tickets for more attractive ones; most regular STHs will be in the higher categories for most games requiring points anyway.

I think that could've worked if we'd known we were playing away at a side like Eastleigh - limited away allocation. It would've been a really good way to encourage people to go to that Milton Keynes match.

A similar for tonight's match policy for tonight's game for any future League Trophy matches could get more into the ground.

Here's an idea - sell points to supporters. It works with other schemes such as Avios. Would be a good cash generator and the meltdown alone it would cause would be worth it.

Gutted I'm in the second category now they wiped 20 years of points despite doing most games away this year. Payback for not doing too many aways last season when we were equally shit.

And you need to get a rail replacement bus from Winchester to Southampton Parkway or Eastleigh.

On Google Maps it looks like it should be an easy, short walk from Airport Parkway to the ground. It isn't. Busy roads to cross, no pavements and no access from the east side of the stadium, unless you fancy climbing over ditches and fences.

(I live not far from Eastleigh)

Sounds like you've attempted it a few times :)
