Due to two Leicester supporting lads in my local, I've seen them a few times this year. The performances have been very solid. They're a really good team, with some excellent individuals. If anyone's going to come danger close, I think it may well be them.

Mr Angry Looking at the Premier League, there is another record that is in danger; Derby's infamous 11 points haul from 2007/08.

Both Luton and Sheffield United look incapable of mustering a win between them at the moment.

I agree

Acid test is always when promotion is secured as with Burnley last year, I believe they'd only lost 2 at that point.

We kept our foot on the gas, others seem not to have....

First good news for months

Leicester lost at home.

I’ll take that in the current circumstances.

It'd be quite fun if we got relegated to L2 with a new owner and then broke our own points record, wouldn’t it.

Interesting* to note - with Leicester having lost the last 2, maybe Ipswich are the team to watch - also on 39pts after 16 but unlike Leicester have only lost once.

Good point, we didn't properly go top until 22/11 that season after Sheff Utd had the early running... so its there or there about.

Relegated sides 1st 3rd and 4th, coincidence? I think not, if it doesn`t happen this year (and I think it will) it`s only a matter of time,, our team cost a fraction of these cash cows.

Seeing Sheffield United winning yesterday got me to wondering - is there a similar "record watch" thread on the Derby County message board where every year they track whether anyone will nick their less prestigious lowest ever points tally record?

The only thing that will preserve Derby's worst ever points tally is that this season there are 3 woeful teams at the bottom rather than just Derby (which was the case that season), which means they will earn points off each other thus bumping their totals up.

Yeh, in 07/08 both ourselves and Brum were competitive, getting over 35 points. Very rare to have such a gulf between 19th and 20th.

Yeah - we ended up closer on points to Aston Villa who came 6th than Derby that season. Derby were basically a bottom half Championship side who just happened to have one good season (getting promoted via the play-offs) the year prior.

TalkSPORT this evening - 5.41 - brilliant passionate speech from Hugh Woozencroft as to why Reading 106 are the best Championship team ever regardless of what Leicester achieve.

Nice to hear a presenter / pundit talking so knowledgeably for once.

Yeah, although if Ipswich do it as well, that is truly incredible.

If Leicester beat it this season, it may well coincide with the relegated sides getting 1), 2) and 3) which is as obvious a sign you can get of the changing Championship landscape.

Obviously the job Hammond, Howe, Coppell, McDermott's etc., did building the 05/06 team is more impressive, but I'd not say that automatically makes that a "better team". Leicester's team is a brilliant Championship side, and the fact that they've been given a financial bazooka doesn't change that. In the same way that Pep Guardiola and his treble winning team including KDB, Rodri etc., is a great team, even if the hierarchy have essentially cheated in building it.

I think the major difference between us in 2005/06 and Leicester this season is that Leicester had played in the Premier League for a number of seasons before being relegated, whereas we were a Championship side.

They have a number of Internationals in their team before they played a single game this season, including Vardy; we had virtually no Internationals at the start of 05/06 - they became internationals becasue they played for us.

Our achievement will stand the test of time.

Fair play to him

I fear when Leicester break the record even less people outside Reading will know of the 106 team's achievements

Leicester will have broken the record with a Premier League team worth millions. No comparison at all with what Coppell and his team achieved

I think if anyone is going to take it, and I think Leicester will, then I'll be glad it's them just for their fans being classy after we won promotion at their place.
