Four Of Clubs .... fairly certain one Final was even staged at Elm Park .... I thought in the 80's - ... and our very own recently retired - at that time - Mick Kearney turned out too ...

... my memory is dissolving rapidly these days but am pretty certain I was in the crowd too :

...looking at the list of Finals though - I may well have got it wrong .... and I was there for the Theale win in 92 :?

Definitely was a final at EP, I seem to recall being there, well at least the game I went to involved Theale, so I can only assume it was the 91/92 Cup Final.

About 2500 there, I think.

I went in the away end, just to see what it was like watching from the away end.

Crowd of over a thousand today at Basingstoke to see them play out a battling 0-0 draw. Salisbury missed a penalty (it was dreadful) but were far the better team with wave of attack after attack yet Basingstoke could have won it at the end.

Basingstoke have not won in ages, decimated with injuries and badly need to pick up some wins to avoid being sucked into a relegation scrap.

Results from yesterday:

Sat 30th December

SLP-C
Hitchin Town 1-3 Berkhamsted – att 690 – good win for Berko – only their 2nd of the season and they still look a long way from safety.
- have played more than those above them in and around the drop-zone. Odd bearing in mind how dominant they were in winning the league below Season 22-23 – but I have my doubts about the relative strengths of the Southern Central One division. PO winners ‘Diddy’ also struggling in the Premier South.

Leiston 3-0 Nuneaton Borough
SLP-S
Basingstoke Town 0-0 Salisbury att – 1,117
– dodged a bullet here - initially our choice for the PM, having given up driving a longer distance in the wet to a ‘new tick’ that might have been called off en route
- then decided it was too wet ‘n horrible, with further rain forecast - to make the effort for what is still a fairly basic set-up at Winklebury.
- Match report above doesn’t make me regret the decision. There’s a longer one on NLM – ‘Whites’ missed a pen, defences were on top for most of the game – first half better than the 2nd.
- comment within this report re crowd behaviour & on this occasion somewhat against the oft ‘projected agenda’ on here :? – probably too wet to cause grief - even in a crowd of this size:
"Thankfully, all good natured as it is understood that in the past that there have been problems with some of the more excitable Salisbury supporters."

Swindon Supermarine 4-1 Didcot Town att 420

- no real concrete news re the Bracknell Town comings/goings from my mate (his sister is friend of a friend whose husband etc etc )
– e.g. actually I have met said fellah at a few Binfield games in the past and his family connection IS/WAS ‘very close to the club’ ….so would tend to believe what is said.
- anywhich - seems possible that Jamie and Carl were hearing things from within the hierarchy about an intention to ‘bring someone else in’ and possibly jumped before they were shoved?
Though equally the programme notes that I’ve viewed on-line, might suggest they are struggling to compete with ‘bigger’ clubs and have lost a few key players of late?
- as an interim ‘Robins’ are currently being led by their Academy manager Jordan Ive

IL1-SC
Ashford Town (Middx) 0-3 Hartley Wintney
Badshot Lea
2-2 Thatcham Town - att 175 - two 'Kingfisher' goals for David Nyarko
Chertsey Town {NINE} 9-0 Binfield –att 644 horror show for ‘Moles’ at the league leaders – from reports I’ve read elsewhere the visiting keeper (Rackley-Hayes) had a day he’ll want to forget but had little assistance from those in front of him

Guernsey 4-2 Sutton Common Rovers
Leatherhead 1-0 Ascot United
Marlow
1-2 Southall – att 277 ‘Blues’ stay 5th Southall in 2nd behind Chertsey on GD
Metropolitan Police 3-0 Corinthian-Casuals
Raynes Park Vale 1-1 South Park (Reigate)
Uxbridge 1-2 Westfield

CCL-PN
Bedfont Sports 1-1 Egham Town
Broadfields United 1-3 Burnham
Edgware & Kingsbury 2-1 Chalfont St Peter
Harefield United 4-0 Wallingford & Crowmarsh
Reading City 5-0 Holyport
CCL-PS
Camberley Town 1-2 Cobham
Balham 2-1 Horley Town
Colliers Wood United 3-0 Abbey Rangers
Epsom & Ewell 4-2 Tooting & Mitcham United
Guildford City 1-3 Farnham Town - Town roar on 16 from 16
Knaphill 3-1 AFC Croydon Athletic
Redhill 1-3 Sheerwater
CCL-1
Amersham Town {TEN} 10-0 Spartans Youth – five goals for Tabor – Town 16 points clear now GD +75 from 24 games.
Berks County 2-1 Langley
British Airways 4-1 FC Deportivo Galicia
Eversley & California 2-1 Holmer Green
- late decision to haul myself out to this, as it was only ½ hr away:
- rain had stopped – but still got decidedly soggy and very windy/drizzly later PM.
- a much closer match than I anticipated – especially with HG having been steam-rollered the week before by leaders Amersham.
- hosts were still much better on the ball but the visitors fought hard throughout and could perhaps feel slightly aggrieved not to share the points- didn’t really threaten 2nd half but hung-on.
- That determination may yet keep them clear of the drop into STEP07 but they are slowly falling away with Bagshot and Hillingdon below them.
- a lot of landscaping and drainage work has gone on at the ESA in the past few years. There is now a (very boggy) field over behind the far side rather than a filled in gravel-pit. I’m sure they used to retrieve wayward clearances behind the stand over there with a boat !
- Have a proper Tea-Hut inside the ground now too –and interesting that Yateley – almost on their doorstep - are coming on in similar ‘leaps and bounds’ facility–wise. Could both be up at STEP05 afore–long! Yateley currently in 2nd too with E&C just outside the PO spots with plenty of games in hand.

London Samurai Rovers 5-1 Bedfont
Molesey 1-1 Westside
Windsor 2-4 Oxhey Jets
Penn & Tylers Green 2-2 London Colney
Rising Ballers Kensington 0-0 Woodley United
Yateley United 5-0 Bagshot

HELL-P
Hereford Pegasus 2-3 Royal Wootton Bassett Town
Highworth Town 5-0 Worcester Raiders - att 183
- morning leaders Worcester City have decanted from Claines La during this prolonged wet-spell and are ‘lodging’ for a couple of weeks at Malvern – where they were held 3-3 by Fairford yesterday - crowd 597 – allowing Corsham to re-take top spot.

Wantage Town 1-3 Pershore Town
HELL-1
Hartpury University 3-0 Abingdon United
Tytherington Rocks 2-1 Kidlington Res

WESS-1
Ash United 3-4 Cove
Frimley Green
1-5 Alresford Town
– in the Wessex Premier - of those games that beat the wet – goals were, as usual, in abundance: 30 in the 6 played.
- leaders Shaftesbury won 8-2 vs Christchurch – much travelled striker Brett Pitman scored SEVEN.
- Portchester in 4th still pulling in the crowds too – 504 saw them draw 2-2 with 5th placed Brockenhurst.
- AFC Stoneham and Moneyfields making up the top spots in 2nd and 3rd – the latter soon to move back into their shiny re-furbed ‘John Jenkins Stadium’ - have 7 games in hand on the leaders and a record of P16 W15 L 1.

Preview of NYD to follow shortly ........ :)

...so t'is - might even consider it - depending upon the mood after the SCL.....

- will also get me away from the interminable 'over-gush' that accompanies any 'Dippers' game on 'live' Sk(h)y(pe)
...and I'm pretty certain the 'Geords' - as is the norm and on current form - will disappoint.

.....the Westfield vs 'Tanners' game KOs late PM presumably 'cos Woking are at home across the road at 15:00
.....but if anyone's considering a 'sneaky' NYD double and haven't already got a ticket for the game vs the Sh!ts, then best forget it as reportedly Kingfield is sold out.

Superb debut from Connor Hall as he scored all 3 in the 3-1 win for Brackley over local rivals Banbury

Some unpleasant and a little embarrassing scenes after the third goal went in, as Banbury yoofs tried to get in to the Brackley end

Hopefully some bans will follow

I went to Amersham v Westside. Not too much to the ground, but in a nice location, with views of the hills. Apparently, until relative recently their pitch had an 11' 4" slope, side to side. That's even more than Wycombe's old place.

They won 4-1, and the third was their 100 league goal, in their 25th game.
