Elm Park Kid I was just told by a good source that we were in discussion for the sale of three of our defenders yesterday and that two of them have now been agreed.

Guessing Holmes and Abbey. We're fooked aren't we?

Hendo
morganb Who would want a Reading defender as clean sheets haven't been a speciality of ours for years

Abbey and Bindon certainly have high potential and can imagine they'd be attracting interest to be part of a more cohesive defensive unit.

Tbh, whilst they wouldn’t be the first two any of us would pick to lose, we have so many CBs we can absolutely afford to lose two.

Just as long as we don't end up playing two slow ones that remain together again.

Holmes and Dorsett would work.

Mbengue and McIntyre would work.

Replace either Holmes or McIntyre with Dean, or Hutchinson.

You could maybe replace either Dorsett or Mbengue with Stickland, or a fit John Clarke.

I'm sure I'm missing someone.

Abbey out of contract in the summer too, so we're gonna lose him in the summer regardless.

Sounds like the rumours are true. Abbey and Holmes off, above Bowen's head :(

To Luton as well. The ultimate kick in the nuts. Hope with Abbey we can at least get a decent sell on. Wouldn't be surprised if Femi was next, with him being out of contract in the summer too.

It’s dreadful news really - no issue with us selling good academy players, that’s what we should aim to do, but this will be cut price deals to pay off short term debts like the tax bill

And yeah likely to lose a couple more I expect

Earnshaw reckons we have an extra year option on abbey. So more money for dai down the casino potentially

Any money received will be going straight into Dai’s pockets. The asset stripping has well and truly begun.

The Chronicle article says both players are unsure re the move re loyalties to the club, so what Earnshaw is saying is that the players are involved in discussions behind the manager's and Bowen's back, I wouldn't be surprised if both resigned if this is true.

Direct quote from Rob Edwards saying there's nothing in the Abbey/Holmes rumours

Selles being very very open with Dellor and clearly a bit pissed off about these deals being agreed over his head.

And said Mark Bowen knew nothing about the sales either.

Latest rumour is Abbey to Forest, straight on loan to Lympiakos to hook up with Omar Richards. And Holmes to Luton, back on loan to Reading.

Have heard the same (besides Abbey heading to Olympiacos - but suppose that detail is irrelevant either way)

Some not very interesting stuff knocking about on clubs inc Stoke being interested in McIntyre

Just lumped in the same bucket as the interest in Smith, Knibbs etc

Jay Senga recalled from Ayr United. Could be because he hasn't featured as we hoped. Or perhaps...to fill in an upcoming vacancy.

I'm not sure he's been recalled, as much as the loan expired. It will be interesting to see if he does feature in some way in the near future. IIRC, he's a DM - so could be an option to replace Craig from the bench.

Only seen him in a few pre season games, but he looked pretty complete as a midfielder.

Who scored have him listed as a CB though I think. 5 starts and 6 subs for Ayr iirc.
