Arteta has really missed a trick this season by not using Jorginho enough. For all of the money and investment Liverpool spent in the summer, him, Rice and Odegaard were miles ahead of them this afternoon in every department

Klopp made some strange calls. Gakpo has been there over a year now and has offered very little since IMO. For Nunez’ faults, he’s lively and active and I just don’t see that from Gakpo

That’s the thing really. Footballing wise, I haven’t been particularly impressed by Liverpool this season, certainly not relative to their league position anyway. But their mentality and their never die attitude has really shone this season

Wasn’t evident today. Van Dijk and Konate spent most the first half strolling around slowly passing the ball from side to side. Absolute no urgency in their game and got exactly what they deserve

Just shows how good Salah is. Even when he’s “off it” he still produces magic moments that can turn a game.

If he really is off in the summer it could be a tough gig for the new manager.

quite depressing how the top 3 of the Champ were the 3 to come down last season. Gotta love those parachute payments.

Have covered this before, but there has been quite the turnaround of promoted sides in the last decade or so, even if recent trends, or the odd yo-yo team, suggest otherwise.

22/23 - Burnley, Sheff Utd, Luton
21/22 - Fulham, Bournemouth, Forest
20/21 - Norwich, Watford, Brentford
19/20 - Leeds, West Brom, Fulham
18/19 - Norwich, Sheff Utd, Villa
17/18 - Wolves, Cardiff, Fulham
16/17 - Newcastle, Brighton, Huddersfield
15/16 - Burnley, Middlesbrough, Hull
14/15 - Bournemouth, Watford, Norwich
13/14 - Leicester, Burnley, QPR

Last 30 promotion spots to the PL have been filled by 21 different sides. 'Bouncing back' isn't as easy as it looks or is perceived to be. Go back a few more seasons and you can add the likes of Palace and Southampton and some little club called Reading to that list as well.

quite mad that there is a championship team paying a 37 year old a reported £140,000 a week and nothing much is made of it.

I know its all about the context of what came before meaning he is on that, but still, nuts money for that age at that level.

Chelsea "not matching the club's history" Says Potch.

"Check out their history pre Abramovich" says I.

Can't be long for the chop can he. Though I will say, he's not the real issue, a bit like Man Utd's issues. It runs deeper than that

Agreed. Boehly doesn't have a clue how to run a football club. Wasn't meant as a dig at Potch but he seems to work better at "underdog" clubs. I don't think Chelsea were ever going to be the right club for him, given the behind the scenes shambles and level of expectations.

I never understand all that. Life's about enjoying moments, why are some miserable types always criticising others for doing that?! or is it just a football fan rivalry thing where some fans will try and find any angle they can to moan about other clubs?

Probably a bit of both for me.

People like Richard Keys and Andy Grey are just miserable pcunts, whereas the moaning from Jamie Carragher yesterday was probably more out of rivalry and they'd just lost the game.

Only annoyance is that Arsenal fans were laughing at Spurs fans for celebrating a win against Liverpool and then did exactly the same thing.

top of League 2 has gone weird of late. Just 7 wins from the last combined 20 matches the top 4 have played

Notts County also ruining one of my season long bets with their form in recent weeks

I am lead to believe that 44 goals is the most* scored in one round of fixtures. We are currently on 41 this weekend and have 1 fixture to go tonight

*I assume thats a 'football only started in 92' type stat, though I also wonder if that is actually since the PL went down to 20 teams

Yes it would be, the old Division 1 would have had 11 games per weekend so absolutely bound to have stuffed a mere 44 goals on several occasions and on the avg. goals per game ratio as well to make the actual comparison work.

Plus defending was Sunday league standard pre-92.
