Hound Think that’s the main problem in all of this. No one really knows what his intentions are and why he’s behaving as he is.

And yet so many people seem to know exactly what his intentions/motivations are?

Totally agree, Christ there`s even a phoenix club thread running now, it`s all very depressing that people on here know exactly what`s going on in Dai`s mind.
Why don`t we just wait and see before we all grieve over the death of our club before jumping to conclusions?

We've had six years of him, it's not too tough to see where things are going.

Thanks for clearing that up Dai.

Especially as there are two clear examples already.

Anyone else heard the rumblings that a bid by someone close to DY has been blocked out of hand by NH and that the party currently closest to a deal is a Saudi consortium?

Don't think people are saying they know what is in the mind of Dai. Well, apart from Ian, who knows everything.

They're only using the fact that he appears to be behaving completely irrationally in regards to a sale to guess that the club is going to go the way of the other two he owned.

It's utterly irrational, illogical and incomprehensible to us, but not to him.

He has invested a load of money and time into something, and now he wants a return on that investment.

He clearly has a price below which he won't sell and literally nothing that can be done will change that fact.

Whilst we might think "take the first decent offer you get, and get out cos otherwise you will be left with nothing" are missing the point; unless someone comes in and offers what he is asking (or very close to what he is asking) he simply won't sell.

If the club dies, he will think so what? He will take the view that he still owns the 2 most tangible assets (stadium and training ground) and at some point will sell them for close to what he wants.

Whether thats in the latter part of 2024, or in a couple of Years time, not a problem for him.

So the ONLY solution as I see it is that someone or some entity offers him what he wants otherwise thats that, probably in the Summer.

I don't see how Howe could block anything Dai wanted to agree to, if it could meet FL requirements, and if it couldn't he could only advise that, not block it himself. He's got no authority.

I understand that a Saudi / American owned company is very interested in buying #ReadingFC. I’m also told they have had representatives attend games.

I will not, and discourage posting any specific details.

What a oxf*rd. If it's true, we'd have found out soon enough anyone. If it's not true, it's further false hope and anxiety for everyone.

Unless they are a company that deals with owning sports clubs, I can't see why a 'company' would be interested.

And the Saudis only seem interested in high profile sports, so Reading would be an odd choice.

That doesn't mean it's not true, but it doesn't feel likely.

Not all Saudi money is dirty but even if it where, a Saudi owner with dirty money is > no club at all at this point.

You hve diametrically opposed views in that statement.

1. He wants a return
2. If he doesn’t get what he wants he won’t sell

Those two positions are mutually exclusive

They aren't.

He wants a sale price that feels like a victory. He will let the club expire, writing off his losses rather than settle for less.

The thing with Saudi money is that they're so desperate to sports wash effectively, they generally make half decent owners.

I'd rather not have Saudi owners but it's a difficult one.
