As short term as it may be, I think we are mostly all on the same page - if whatever group comes in passes the low bar tests and then just keeps us ticking over and invests, wisely, in the team/club then fine. The alternative doesn't really bare thinking about.

If you speak to Wigan fans, Al Hammad started well there. Spoke about investing in youth, won promotion, appointed Maloney. Then the guy providing the money turned the tap off. Obviously he shares the blame, he agreed to front their operation and made himself chairman. But it doesn't guarantee he'll fail with us. And at least when it went tits up, they sold up quickly unlike Dai who continues to cling on.

The problem with all these private equity and hedge funds is knowing who is providing the money. I imagine the EFL checks take time compared to someone like Mike Ashley.

I think though, Howe has put a step in place that means every bidder has to essentially pass the EFL Checks with him first before he puts them anywhere near the EFL - so we can hope (and it is only hope) that as soon as exclusivity is announced the actual checks may not be much more that reviewing the paperwork from Howe.

This is where having Howe involved is a bonus as he knows the EFL processes inside out.

If Genevra were very close to exclusivity in November until Dai decided to sell the training ground separately you’d think that things can move quickly.

And so much for Wycombe's owners rescuing us. Sounds like if they hadn't followed up on Bearwood, this would already be done. 5 months on we're basically back to where we were before they were shown around.

I know it's the owner and not the club, but plenty of fans happy to buy Couhig's bullshit.

Hound Massive well done to the commercial team btw if they’ve made up a 1m shortfall so quickly

Be interesting to see what’s been dreamed up

They've sold an NFT of our glorious leader on the dark web, purchasable only with a new cryptocurrency, Daicoin.

Elon Musk bought it for $2b as a birthday present for his son 5¹²³π

SCL?

Yep very likely, it was said they were covering the tax tomorrow before all the Bearwood stuff broke.

I reckon after spending a fair bit of money on tickets for mates, 3 home shirts and a lot of merchandise I don’t need, I have helped a little

I contributed to EPR's tickets deal and am in the draw for hospitality against Northampton. A drop in the ocean, but if 2000 fans or so did similar it would have made an impact.

Yeah, I donated money to the EPR ticket deal too. That reminds me, I also paid money towards the Ruben Flag, but no idea if enough money has been raised.

Problem is that there are so many ex-pros and relatively few other football jobs. I assume that 74 covers all age groups. Obviously this and the fact that these jobs are generally pretty enjoyable jobs means that the pay is pretty poor. Doubt the average academy coach is on much more than minimum wage

There are very few jobs in media that pay a decent whack

Whilst it’s probably right that an ex pro can find a football related job if they have other people skills (esp with younger people), it’s going to be a big step down wage wise from being a pro. Dunno about everyone else but if you told me in 4 years time I’m worth about 10% of what I am now I’d find that quite hard to come to terms with

I have faith you'd be ok with going from £500k a year to £50k a year.

150k to 15 less so. And that’s the area we’re talking about with us though

But even 500 to 50 is a huge change in lifestyle and expectation

I reckon they can comfortably get £25k in £150k scenario

I bought a shirt when I thought we were going under. Hasn't arrived yet though.

The EFL 2 years' funding requirement which I only learnt through Howe's interview makes me feel better that we'll have a couple of years stability at least. Plus the soft transfer embargo stops them spunking it all up the wall on vanity signings.

I'm afraid there's no way I believe that EVERY FL club has deposited two years running costs. That would likely tip almost every one of them into a cashflow crisis.
I assume this has been misinterpreted, somehow

Guessing it's proof of funds.

So how would that make anyone feel better ?
Owner : "Today I have shown I have £10m funds available to cover the running costs for two years. So I assume everything is ok ?"
EFL : "Yep, you're good to go"
Owner (3 days later) : "I'm off to the casino with my £10m and there's nothing you can do about it"

I think it may be a requirement on new owners? So yes, they are not requesting them from all 72 clubs. But Howe definitely implied it was more than just proof of funds.

Still think that's insane and would prevent the majority of ownership moves, thus ushering in even more clubs in crisis as owners get to the end of their tenure

Anyhow, you'd presume the Telegraph article is accurate. Someone high up will know that fans are anxious about the shortfall and will have leaked as unofficial communication. Or there is still a
shortfall and Pang leaked it just to piss around.

Interesting read for those people who thought Friday night's demo at Wycombe was a wasted effort https://www.bucksfreepress.co.uk/sport/24200475.reading-fc-protest-a-reason-behind-bearwood-pull/

I'm confident the planning permission was front and centre with Dai's bullshit 2nd.

under the tin
Lower West Events off the pitch will be be what they'll be. Just need as to get as many points on the table as possible from the remaining games. Remaining a League One club for next season is all that matters. That's a huge unwanted pressure on the players and the footballing staff.

LOL
Our league position has as much to do with the shambolic tactical, selection and playing performances at the start of the season as it does with anything that happened "upstairs".

Yes this is quite correct. Perhaps if the management had known what are they were doing and hadn't been playing random number formations this club might have been on the fringes of the play offs now. Apparently Reading would be 8th in the table if the season had started 20 games ago.

Much as I think Selles got a lot wrong we were, once again, putting together a team of strangers.
A fair few high profile managers have struggled to get a load of new players to gel quickly

But then some managers wouldn't have tried confusing young and inexperienced players who aren't world class internationals with a load of ridiculous "trendy" formation ideas either. They would have tried to make the best with what they had available suitable for the level they were playing at.
