Yeah, did notice that Win as , having been to a league game at their brilliant stadium (not just the stadium but the whole "matchday experience" of free train transport to and from the game and being allowed to drink anywhere) I have always had a passing interest in their side.

Incidentally my Turkish local shop m8 is depressed today because his Galatasaray lost at home to Fenerbahce yesterday when a draw would have been enough for them to be champions.
Now a nervous week as it goes down to the final games and Gala are away but a draw would be enough.
These 2 clubs are over 30 points clear of the 3rd and if Gala get at least a draw from the final game it will mean 100 points for the season over 38 matches.

BTW Wilfred Zaha has been useless apparently.

Thought he was still at Palace and injured.

Nah, moved to Gala last season. 10 goals in 39 games across all competitions doesn't seem too bad. 9 in 28 in the league, so basically 1 in 3, which again seems fine.

I am only going by what my mate says and he doesn't expect him to be there next season
.
It seems as though Ziyech has done well after not getting the transfer away that he wanted.

Bologna currently beating Juve 3-0 and heading for a 3rd place finish.

Samuel Illing-Junior playing for Juv3

Edit - 3 goals in 7 minutes for juve to bring it level. Still time for more!

Heard it said a few times over the last few months that this has been Kroos' best season for Real Madrid.

Decided to go out at top I guess

1 game left in La Liga and the whole of the top 8 are already in their finishing places. And relegation is already sorted too. Worst last day ever.

Should be the first golden boot winner to not be from Barcelona or Real Madrid in 15 seasons. Alexander Sorloth of Villarreal is 2 ahead of Girona's Artem Dovbyk

Scottish League Cup announced new prize fund today.

A team that enters and loses every group game will get £36k.

A side entering Round 1 in England only makes that money if they reach the quarter finals.

Stranded Scottish League Cup announced new prize fund today.

A team that enters and loses every group game will get £36k.

A side entering Round 1 in England only makes that money if they reach the quarter finals.

The Scottish League Cup has a much more equitable prize money with the Scottish Cup (notwithstanding any TV fee) when compared to the English equivalents.

The breakdown for the Scottish Cup this season was:
  • Preliminary - £2,200
  • 1st round - £5,000 (+£1,500 if on TV)
  • 2nd round - £6,500 (+£2,250 if on TV)
  • 3rd round - £9,500 (+£3,500 if on TV)
  • 4th round - £19,500 (+£24,000 if on TV)
  • 5th round - £47,250 (+£24,000 if on TV)
  • 6th round - £102,000 (+£24,000 if on TV)
  • Semi-final - £177,000 (+£60,000 for TV)
  • Runner-up - £292,000 (+£125,000 for TV)
  • Winner - £352,000 (+£125,000 for TV)
A Premiership club (entering in the 4th round) winning the Scottish Cup will earn a minimum of £882,750 (in terms of guaranteed prize and TV money). The winner of the Scottish League Cup will earn £400k plus £30k in TV money for each game shown in the knockout round (£18k during the group stage - which sides in Europe don't play in).

For comparison, an English Premier League or Championship side will earn a minimum of £3.9m before considering TV money. Celtic got £3,843,700 for winning the Scottish Premiership last season (including TV money). A club gets roughly £6m in TV money for playing in the English Championship.

The breakdown for the League Cup in England is:
  • 1st round win - £5,000
  • 2nd round win - £7,000
  • 3rd round win - £10,000
  • 4th round win - £15,000
  • Quarter-finalists - £25,000
  • Semi-finalists - £25,000
  • Runner-up - £50,000
  • Winner - £100,000
Winning the League Cup from the first round will net a side only £187k in prize money, which explains why sides don't take it seriously.

For further context about how low the prize money of the League Cup is, here's the prize money for the EFL Trophy (this was for when the competition didn't have a sponsor, it may have increased after a sponsor was found mid-season):
  • Group stage (per win) - £8,000
  • Group stage (per draw) - £4,000
  • Round of 32 win - £15,000
  • Round of 16 win - £29,500
  • Quarter-final win - £40,000
  • Runner-up - £42,000
  • Winner - £84,000
  • TV money (before semi-final) - £10,000
  • TV money (semi-final) - £20,000
A side winning every match in the EFL Trophy would receive £192,500 in prize money, in addition to a share of the Wembley ticket money from the final.

Looking at the prize money on offer, it is surprising that more teams don't take the EFL Trophy slightly more seriously - appreciate that there are costs involved in putting on/getting to a game but just taking our run to the last 16 in to account - this would have banked the club 39k - not a massive amount but would cover some wages for very little on pitch effort.

Atalanta's win in the Europa League final means Roma are into the Champions League next season as long as Atalanta remain in 5th place in Serie A

2 games left in Segunda. Not a single team promoted or relegated yet. Penultimate fixtures played today at 5:30 where it's possible all promotion, relegation and play off participants could be sorted.
