The summers least surprising news is Mbappe officially signing his contract at Real Madrid.

Reportedly his standard annual salary and yearly loyalty/signing fee add up to €45M which is around €865k per week, and that's before any bonuses he is believed to receive for team success and Balon d'Or win.

Apparently quite a few RM fans somewhat nonplussed and want to make a point to him that he has to earn their respect, after he messed them around before (just to get a better PSG contract) and in which time they have been really successful and shown its him that needs them, not them that need him.

I find Mbappe to Real Madrid to be.... utterly boring. The guy is clearly one of the best players on the planet, but he is staring at a club career of little personal achievement, in my view. A few seasons at PSG in a league they would have won without him. Now he's moved to Real Madrid, a team beaten just once in normal time in the season just ended, in 55 games, winning the league and CL double. He might notionally add to the team, but he doesn't add the prospect of more trophies. So what's the point?

Against that, fine, it was his childhood team - but what kid doesn't want to play for Real Madrid?

I dunno. I know I'm going over old ground here and football is not the romantic game I grew up with. But I can't help keep going back to what Maradona did at Napoli, for example, for a great club football legacy. Now, yes as I've said before, 'all paths lead to a super team', essentially these days Real or City. The difference being, there is less chance these clubs fall from their lofty perch, ever.

As a side point - one of the best players in the world joining the biggest club in the world should cause a huge stir, and be a real moment in football. But it's the kind of moment Fabrizio Romano has just ruined.

Although it's the headline sports news here, it's all a bit low key, with a very quick switch to the womens game vs Denmark tonight taking over very quickly, then on to an interview wth Rodri about the Euro's
The main headline is that it provides Ancelotti with a headache as to where to play him and who to leave out
Almost no real celebration at all

It's taken two years to complete so everybody's bored shitless by the whole "Mbappe to Real" soap opera.

To be honest, I'm not sure anyone outside Madrid or Paris gives a toss.

Sums it up, really. Buys best forward in the world and has to leave one of the best forwards in the world out of his side. So what's the point?

And they've signed Endrick!

That's a cracking move after being released by Newcastle

Even Real Madrid TV are a bit ‘meh’
(We get a complimentary month with our fibre … there’s no way I’m paying for that drivel … and I thought Sky Sports News was bad. Turned on expecting to see a little more excitement)

Ndombele set to be released from Spurs on a free transfer with a year to go on his contract.

Worst signing ever?

Charles De Ketelaere to Atalanta for €22M (he was on loan there last season)

Stay tuned to see if this is the 3rd summer in a row I predict he is about to become the big star of Serie A!

I’m surprised no-one has mentioned yet that Oxford have signed Sheffield Wednesday’s player of the season, Will Vaulks, on a free transfer too.

Seems to have created quite a jizzfest in Oxfordshire.

Isn't that the big geezer with the extra long throw in? He's annoying for that, but nothing scary otherwise for opponents to worry about.

Wasn't he there already but was he on loan?
