They still managed 97 points didn't they and Vardy was injured for a while?

Perhaps Chelsea have decided now to go with somebody who is not a "name" in world football such as Poch, Mourinho, Conte, Tuchel, Ancelotti etc.as all of those ended up being sacked.

How many managers can anyone name that haven’t been sacked ?
I’ll start …. Ferguson, Guardiola

Bob Paisley
Bill Shankley
Bill Nicholson
Terry Neill
Jack Charlton
Joe Fagan
John Lyall
Kenny Dalglish

Didn't Newcastle sack him too?

Given the hundreds, if not thousands of managers, to be able to name but a handful is testament to the fact that managers get sacked, it’s what happens to the vast, vast majority

Oh, and Terry Neill got sacked by Arsenal

Quite forgot he had that 12 months or whatever there in the last decade.

I also note how the "mighty" fell soon afterwards:

First team coach Steve Clarke, who was Dalglish's first major appointment on taking charge, has resigned in a show of solidarity with Dalglish.

Winston Biscuit Kompany gets the Bayern job

That, to me, is utterly bizarre; this is a guy who walked the Championship with (basically) the same squad that had got relegated from the Premier League the season before, and who then did absolutely nothing this season to stop the inevitable relegation straight back down (and despite 2 teams finishing above them who had been given points deductions), and Bayern go "yep, he is the guy for us!".

I am sure that Kompany will get success at Bayern, but that will be far more to do with Bayern's status in the German game then his own managerial skills I suspect. How they get on in the Champions League will be of interest.

I disagree. His teams play decent football and that's probably what Bayern are looking for, a manager who can implement a particular style of football.

If he can implement a similar style at Bayern, with the resources at his disposal, they should do very well.

And Ferguson by St Mirren.

Hadn’t realised that one.
Assumed he traded up when he went to Aberdeen
[edit] indeed he’d already agreed to go to Aberdeen and the St Mirren chairman sacked him on priciple after Ferguson had already told the staff and players he was leaving

But are currently unable to register him with La Liga as their coach due to financial issues. Apparently due payments in from sale of club assets in the next couple of weeks that will allow it.

Much excitement at HNA's official Segunda club FC Cartagena, as they appoint Julian Calero as their new manager.

Calero recently took small 3rd tier club Burgos up to Segunda and got them 2 top haf finishes. In the years prior to that he was Assistant Manager at Porto under Lopetegui and in 2018 was Assistant Manager of the Spanish national team.

I read that we should be seeing this as quite the coup
