Not sure why the roll eyes. I didn't say it wasn't a red. I said it was a red, and there have been similar tackles this season where only a yellow was given for it.

The rolly eyes were based on the fact that he was pleading with the referee that it wasn’t red

Could you not see the other foot studs up straight into the ankle first on the repeated slow mos?

Unless Clarke jumps ship to Serbia overnight i can't see them or anyone for that matter leaving the amount of space in behind them that Scotland did for Germany. Having a high line is one thing but the whole point when you do it is you shorten the pitch and make it easier to put pressure on the ball. Scotland didn't bother with that either, just sat off the ball and left the space in behind. Baffling tactics.

Most teams that play England it will a deep block and hit us on the break which whether people like it or not may well require a fair bit of patience.

That said, Musiala's ability to dribble out of tight spots at pace puts a little perspective on those that will claim our young talent should be world beaters.

Or Palmer if he's selected and given licence to do that.

I'm not a great reader of the game at all but i thought it was more a case of Germany doing everything at such a pace that Scotland could never really get set and were just chasing shadows as it happened too quickly for them.

A master class in how to maximise advantage of superior technical ability and mental speed. Do it all over the pitch, not just in the final 3rd, and spaces open up everywhere.

Yes. Roy Keane and many Scots were furious about that Scottish team’s performance, but the truth is they did do their best. They were just outclassed. Their team was mostly Championship/ Scottish league journeymen and they were up against players from Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Arsenal……..,

We probably could have if we played in the way Germany did, but we wouldn't have because the over-riding thoughts in some of the players' minds as the game kicked off would have been "if in doubt, recycle, let's not lose this game". And that comes from the manager.

Yep, and also, ‘studs up’ tackles are mainly dangerous when a player is running in from distance with lots of weight and momentum behind the tackle/foul, not when you’re just kicking out at an opponent from a standing still position.

Saying it was a ‘studs up tackle’ brings up a mental image of something much worse than what the tackle yesterday actually was.
