Brentford close to signing Archie Gray for £35M + £5M

Brighton also reportedly close to signing 19 year old Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle for £33M. Played 1 season in Denmark, signed by Newcatsle for £5M, loaned out and played a season in the Netherlands. Now worth £33M!

That's just ******* stupid. Brighton deserve to get relegated if they pay that.

Forest signing 21 year old Elliot Anderson from Newcastle for £35M

Feels like the summer of players you've hardly/never heard of moving between PL clubs for big money

Hope the authorities are watching these deals closely

From what little detail we have, all these deals are perfectly legal
They may be contrary to the spirit of the rules …

I really don't get it. Surely it's just kicking the can down the road.

Until they can vote in a new set of ‘rules’

Good signing for the future. Only downside is it puts Leeds in a real position of financial power in the Championship.

Spurs building a very good midfield for the future - Bergvall joining this summer who is also very highly rated. And Sarr is already there

Aren’t they overdue with £180m of football creditor debts ?
£40m barely scratches that surface

It's net 25-30m anyway as Joe Rodon is going the other way

Spurs spending quite a lot on young players who may turn out to be good is nothing new.
They did it with Sessegnon, Djed Spence, Joe Rodon and Jack Clarke and none of those have been successful (with Spurs).

I am not yet convinced about Gray and was glad that the rumour of him going to Liverpool didn't materialise.

We were linked with him at the start of last season.

Looks like a real player to me, incredibly agile on the ball, and his passing and vision, in particular from deep, spectacular, and especially given his relative inexperience. I'd be amazed if he isn't in the conversation for our World Cup squad in 2026, assuming he doesn't plump Scotland.

My Leeds supporting son-in-law is no great fan of the player and is happy that Leeds have received a decent transfer value.
From what I have seen of him playing in a number of positions at Championship level he has not stood out-that is not to say of course that with age, experience and better players around him that he won't improve as he is still very young.
It will be interesting where and how Spurs play him.

Let's revisit this in 2 years' time.
BTW with the strong Scottish family connections it would be no surprise to see him turn out for Scotland rather than England.
