Royals and RacersStrandedWycombe Royal This isn't the way I see it. I saw it that they didn't want the womens team being sold to a 3rd party as they then couldn't operate it in the future.
This way, although it is terrible news now, the womens team remains part of the wider football club and when the ownership and money troubles have been resolved it can be invested in again and rebuild itself. That is not possible if it is owned by a 3rd party.
I could however be wide of the mark.
It does feel like any new owner wants the club to remain as one and hence downgrading the Womens team to the minimum possible but still operating at a low level if preferable to them that having the Women running as a separate club.
Leaves a lot of questions not least, where will they play. Can't see Reading Women v Woodley United Women being at the SCL somehow and Bearwood not ideal for spectators - though not impossible.
They will play at the John Madejski Academy.
Club statement:
Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of those involved at the club, Reading FC Women are unable to field a team in the womens southern regional league division 20. We tried super duper hard, honest, but it was like totally impossible to do it so reluctantly we have decided to abandon having a womens team altogether.

Poor sod who has to deal with the social media.
