Some gavin and Stacey related gif posted up on X

Can only think it’s Sam Smith related but will keep kidding myself it’s a takeover teaser….

Or it’s just smith coming off the bench in a friendly

That was the old Thai one. Looks like they're formally gone.

blythspartan Back in the UK next week and at least it sounds like more positive news on the takeover.

On a separate note there was a tweet from someone connected with the club a few weeks ago and it mentioned that if our academy is downgraded twice, we won’t be able to get our category 1 status back. Anyone know if that’s true? Pretty sure Couhig will want to downgrade it again, which I get.

Possibly a difference between being downgraded because you fail an inspection and voluntarily dropping a category.
Failing twice might be a legitimate reason to suggest you aren’t suitable to run a Cat 1….

Seems pretty daft if each time you then get it back to standard. And it would have to be time bound.

Otherwise the whole thing becomes a farce.

Odd use of ‘daft’, assuming I’ve interpreted your comment correctly.
If you repeatedly fail to maintain the standards required of an organisation it’s pretty reasonable that you will be excluded at some point.
An Academy should be especially tightly monitored given it deals with children in a high pressure environment.
Achieving standards twice on to lapse below them each time is in itself a red flag isn’t it ?

There's a difference between failing to achieve standards, which happened 2 years ago, and making a strategic decision to scale down your operations.

If we do the latter, it makes no sense to punish us in perpetuity if we're one day in a position to scale up again.

I mean, it makes no sense in perpetuity anyway.

And it’s not like a pandemic and relegation both combined with a shit owner everyone hates who should soon be gone isn't pretty good mitigation on both occasions.

Which still assumes there will be a second time where we fail on inspection in the first place.

Ok, so you weren’t actually replying to me.
My apologies.
It’s always a bit confusing when someone replies to a post but it’s unclear whether they are agreeing with it or disagreeing !

What’s happening with this take over then?

Season starts in less than three weeks

I’ve read it all, that’s why I ask because it’s like Groundhog Day

The next 10 days are key to the takeover, we should hear something in the next week, new season fast approaching, XYZ person/consortium are interested, deal not done yet, potential investors, lots still to be done, Mr whoever has been seen in the town for a week, companies house shows tidying up, some random on X talking shit

It’s all we have heard for what, the last ten months?

All chatter and absolutely no substance

And the perennial quote “ By all accounts others are waiting in the wings to make bids if an opportunity arises”

The only thing I have read recently that gives me a bit more hope is this article in the Chronicle. STAR have not said much about their meetings with NH for a while now, so maybe they know more about what’s happening than they have been letting on. Well that’s what I am hoping.

What reasons for not knowing his punishment? Has he been let off or are the FL/FA still deliberating?
