WestYorksRoyal Is this the week? If it's not, it's probably indicative that things are not all well, as with every other "big week" that has come and gone.

No it’s not.
At worst it’s ‘possibly’.
But if there were significant problems the buyers would have walked away by now, and there are been zero ‘leaks’ of Couhig having a leaving do.
Fans are obviously impatient , getting things done sooner rather than later is obviously good but it’s a complex deal and just takes time.
Haven’t we just had a tax deadline and wage payments that no one even worried about meeting ? Suggests significant ongoing financial backing.

Very good point, I think this is the first month in an age where there has been not even a sniff of concern about the tax liability being paid - it was due a week ago, so was clearly paid. Wages due on Wednesday but again, no obvious concern that these won't be paid on time and in full by someone.

Even if the takeover happens soon my understanding is we still cannot sign anyone, even frees & loans, until the financials are submitted for last year....

Although you'd imagine, once we get a new owner in, that'll happen pretty swiftly.

Although no-one quite knows what horrors they might reveal - and if those lead to any more punishments.

The new owner should because they will have people sifting through it all now as it will impact the purchase price.

I assume late submission doesn’t incur a points deduction?

Season ticket sale, sponsorship money etc is in the bank. Healthy balance at the beginning of the season.

The annual premier league money also comes in the summer, although having said all that we consistently failed to pay HMRC on time last summer....

Plus, we might have some of the Olise money and we could still be getting agreed payments for Puscas.

That'll be good. Hopefully Dai doesn't take a penny from these.

After 3 years of absolute hell I'll be so relieved like us all to put this torrid spell as a club to bed.

Eddie Wallbank on X I understand that, as has been reported, the takeover of #ReadingFC is imminent. Senior figures at the club are impressed with Couhig who plans to improve the business and sell for a profit in the medium term. It is also worth noting that the EFL...

....have been integral in keeping Reading afloat. It is understood they have been extremely lenient with the club due to the nature of the situation, and ultimately have helped save the Ding; bending their own rules at times. Credit where credit is due.

Amazing how many ways there are for different people to rehash the same thing !
The bit about the EFL is interesting and if it is true would be interesting to know details.

Certainly encouraging but kind of numb to all these reports until I actually see it happen

Fantastic news. Also nice to hear the EFL have been extremely lenient with us in the last few months because of the circumstances (Dai deliberately being a cnut). Some respect returned to the EFL.

Our situation has never been the fault of the EFL
They are applying the rules (that we voted for in ratification)
Everyone knows who holds the blame

Of course not, but it's desperately appreciated that they have shown leniency in recent months due to the cause of our problems. They could easily have punished us further with points deductions and an extended transfer ban. They can see our problems are because of one poisonous little cretin, and they've stepped up for us. Without that we might not have a football club right now.
