Winston Biscuit
Franchise FC
Winston Biscuit Was reading about CD Castellon. 3rd tier Spanish team who were champions in the season just gone.

Been out of the top flight since 1991, and one of the best supported clubs in the Valencia region. Been a bit of a mess for years but new owners came in 2 years ago, brought in a Dutch manager, who got Zwolle promoted to the Eredivisie the year before, and in his playing days was at Stoke for a while, who brought in a really attacking exciting style of football, and they went up having scored the most goals across both regional 3rd divs, to much applause.

Now up into the Segunda and apparently already being talked of as one who will be pushing hard for promotion to La Liga.

Couldn't help but think of Ipswich when I was reading it.

I am seriously impressed that you find the time to keep up with so much
Have you retired or just taking the piss out of your company, Big Win ?

Currently on week 4 of sitting at home with a bashed up shoulder. Back to work next week.

TBH I just spend so much time reading about foreign football, way more than I post about on here. I should have made it my job really. I see some of the journalists doing just that, writing about football away from the big headline stories, and I get quite jealous that they are following the dream I should have followed.

Would love to actually fly abroad once or twice a year to watch some games, just work through a dream list of teams & stadiums to attention while soaking up the local culture, but I don't know anyone else that has any interest in doing that.

Honestly you should put £100 into sorare and play the segunda division

I reckon you'll make double that easily in no time

Spanish 3rd tier play off final - Malaga score in injury time at the end of extra time to secure promotion up to Segunda. They were seconds away from another season in the 3rd division.

A goal befitting a 3rd tier playoff.

It's almost July and Segunda is still going!

2nd leg of the play-off final today. Oviedo are 1-0 up on Espanyol from the first leg.

5:30 kick off UK time. It's live for free on the La Liga+ app, as all Segunda matches always are.

Based on last summer, pre season friendlies start in 3-4 weeks time, and you would usually have a few weeks training before those. I wonder if the losing finalist today will be told to report for pre season training tomorrow morning

Como, who are owned by Fabregas, signing Pau Lopez and Varane

They also have one of the nicest looking stadiums

**Non Europe alert**

Flumimense, one of South America's big football clubs, and current Copa Libatadores (South American version of the Champions League) champions are sitting bottom of the Brazilian league table on just 6 points after 13 games. Fans very unhappy and kicked off outside their stadium last week, confronting their own players as they tried to leave.

They sacked their manager last week. He was Fernando Diniz, the guy who was also the Brazilian national team manager last season, and the person who had invented this new style of football that was being raved about (I believe we discussed it on here) which saw Fluminense become champions of South America.

Big season in the German 2nd Div

12 of the 18 clubs have been in the top division, 3 of the clubs are former European trophy winners, and some of the stadiums are so big that the average attendance is bigger than most leagues in europe, including La Liga. I think 7 of the stadiums are over 49,000 capacity, which is nuts for a 2nd tier.

Of the stadiums used in the Euros, the following are home to 2. Bundesliga clubs:

Berlin
Cologne
Hamburg
Düsseldorf
Schalke

Which is quite crazy.

Anyway: Hamburg won at Cologne in the opening game (2:1) - Cologne are in a mess financially and are under embargo, so are expected to struggle this season.

The other relegated team, Darmstadt, also lost, 2:0 at home to Düsseldorf.

Schalke showing they could be a different beast this year, as they brush aside Braunschwieg 5:1.

Chelsea policy of buying literally every player ever will hopefully screw them over

9 registered keepers and enough players for 4.5 teams
